A great turn based strategy game
I admit that I laughed at the idea of this game when it was first announced. I didn't pay any attention to it, and thought it was going to be a variation on Mario Party. I was wrong. This is a turn based strategy game, similar to games like xcom, where you alternate turns with the enemy, choosing where to move your characters, how to attack, and how to use their other offensive/defensive abilities. It sounds complicated, but it's easy to get into.As for difficulty... I took a very methodical approach, after completing every area, I went back to complete challenges and level up my characters. If I hit any difficult battles, going somewhere else to power up a bit and returning later seemed to work. There was one boss later in the game that became irritating, but after looking for hints online, I found that it was easier with different team members, so I switched and got through easily the next time. I never tried easy mode, but I think it offers more HP for your characters at the start of the battle. The ability to choose your characters and loadout before each battle was something I really liked, as one of the issues with xcom was your characters dying and having to rebuild the team. No such issues here. Also, there are numerous puzzles throughout the story, normally involving coloured switches and blocks. They are very well implemented, and I never needed to look up any solutions, although some puzzles could be quite taxing.I've now done all of the game including challenges, apart from the 4 ultimate challenges which appear to be very tough, but they aren't needed to complete the game.Overall, this is a great game, with it's well implemented turn based gameplay and some fun puzzles, it has turned out to be one of my favourite Switch games.

🍄 Was definitely worth the wait...
Firstly, this is a great game!I must admit I was a little disappointed to find that it didn’t seem to have much of an actual storyline and wasn’t like the good old Mario game that I remember. This is a strategy game rather than a platform game. For those that know and love xCom, this is definitely for you.The Mario 3D world graphics are truely stunning an the Switch brings the graphics alive during the video shorts within the game.Pros:•Addictive (this is a pro for me as like to be engaged within the game)•Excellent graphics.•Great to get your mind working.Cons:•Looooong videos to watch before you can actually start playing the game. (A pet hat of mine)•Probably a little hard for youngsters. (Although my kids know how to work these things better than I do! Lol)•Uses a lot of battery.•A lot of flashing during some parts. (Maybe something to look out for if you have epilepsy? Just my opinion, obviously I’m not a doc so can’t confirm)•I miss the old Mario platform style game. (Again, my opinion)UPDATE:Epilepsy warning has been added to the beginning of the game!

A very unique game. Well worth every penny.
It took a while to get hooked up with this but it was worth to get through the basics and tutorials etc.Be warned the game is very silly and it has no deep story, however the gameplay easily compensate for the lack of story,A nice tactical approach in the Super Mario atmosphere is something we never really had before. If you like games like Xcom or any other turn based strategy well this is going to be good fun for you. Especially if you like Mario games too.The game is very challenging and punishing.Stay away if you wish to run through and finish this game quick as possible. The battles requiring serious planning, thinking of next moves and considering all options you have against the enemy. You might not like this game if you have no patience or time to plan accordingly.Me personally an experienced Xcom player can tell this game is not for the very young audience like the other Super Mario games.Pros:- Cute design, good graphic/animations- Great progression system- Battles are challenging- Decent longevityCons:- Long learning curve/tutorial- No online multiplayer option- No in depth story

STUNNING SURPRISE!!
Had this title since launch day and can honestly say that it's one of those, relatively rare, games, that you just want to play and play!!The combination of RABBIDS humour ( the funniest yet!! ), iconic Nintendo characters, and a surprisingly deep strategy-challenge, make for hour upon hour of almost unique FUN!!Explore, explore again, then explore some more, because there's so much to discover in terms of, weapons, "treasures", artwork, models, sound-files, and secrets...... AND, some of the best, side-splitting, moments you'll ever see!!This is a wonderful achievement by Ubisoft/Nintendo!! To (finally!!), take the potential of the Rabbid's humour, make it REALLY funny, and place it in the Mushroom Kingdom, hand-in-hand with Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, etc, in a brilliant game where it proves to be completely at home!I truly believe this will be looked back on, in years to come, as a contemporary "CLASSIC"!!Thouroughly recommended from every viewpoint!!
