good bit of kit
bought this from Bestek as I bought something else from them which was not right and they went out of their way beyond the call of duty to solve myproblem. I had an inverter I bought from China let year for aroundI bought this from BESTEK because of the I bought something six months ago they there was a problem and Bestek went way beyond the call of duty to get me sorted. I bought an inverter for around £30 last year. I worked fine to below up an Aildi 240V air bed . I now have an air tent so I need something a bit stronger. This inverter is 4 times the size of it and much much heavier . The cables are also much stronger,This is something less than £70 so it is not cheap .I have just tried it out. in the shed with a bench grinder and a bench drill .It works fine , cables stayed cool , also it seems to take very little out of the battery ,and it's very quiet

Great - but cabling issue - please read on.
Arrived prime so was next day service. The terminals and lead were my worry point before receiving this and had cancelled it's big brother in favour of this one - lightning deal. No one had given any sizing of the connections or the basic cables. It gets 4 stars ONLY because of the cables. They will work but to me are not good enough and would have made this one of my all time GREAT purchases. To help people unsure, as I was, I have given more details and how I will approach the issue. Others may have ideas but this is how I will resolve it to be a better product for my useage. The terminal posts are M5 mm stud by 13mm length + ve and - ve, with thumb screw plastic nuts with metal insert (hexagon shaped not knurled). The cables (6mm multi strand flexi) are from edge of soldered lug (has a 6mm clearance hole for stud affixing) to where it goes into the crocodile clip sheath (spot welded???) 560mm. Not the greatest quality leads but ok for light useage and would probably advise an upgrade. Higher the better if you want a few more options, with the unit's position (don't forget there will be a voltage drop). I am only using the unit for camping with a 110AH leisure battery, but will probably make a set of leads from a cheap set of 16mm x 3 metre or 5 metre jump leads; with insulated crocodile clips and buy some 16mm lugs with 6mm holes (Like this Screwfix item 51735). Cut the cheap set of leads down asymmetrically, so I can make two sets. One set 1 metre and the other 2 metre (from 3 metre original set) etc. Will either terminate the lugs with solder or use the old hammer and chisel point method - to grip the stripped back cable .Hope this helps with the terminal/cable aspect for some people. The unit itself feels solid, finished off well and very happy with that. It doesn't feel cheap.Tried the unit at home off a leisure battery. A 230v 40W 12'' desk fan - slight hum not much on all three speeds -worked great. Tried with a Pacific 19'' tv - fine operation - no distortion or crackle. Tried with a Technika tv/dvd combo all functioned correctly. Tried with a 800W microwave oven, with a mug of water to heat, Warm in about 2 1/2 minutes. Didn't bother with hot as point was to see if it worked and didn't see the point carrying on, as other microwaves may be more or less time. The 800W was workable basically. No horrible smells or noise from the inverter, it just ran smoothly. No heat displacement from aluminium body noted in that time period.***WORD OF WARNING)***If you are going to use and take off the red and black leads from the terminals be careful of any capacitor charge left internally between the -ve and +ve terminals after switch off. It could be done inadvertently if the two crocodile clips touch etc. I will discharge the charge via a filament 12 v car bulb - as the polarity is irrelevant. In all - very happy with purchase and it's performance.

Bestek 1000 Watt inverter
Update 21 May. Just had an email from Bestek saying that a replacement is on the way to me so I am giving the 5 stars back both for product quality and customer service even if it took a little time. Thank you Monica at Bestek.Update 03/05/2018I'm afraid that after an initial positive response from Monica at bestek they did not follow up and are ignoring my emails. So....... ?Update 18 04 2018. Having read the reviews on the other inverters I still think this item is good and have purchased a second one to replace the first. Meanwhile I have made contact with the manufacturers regarding the blown one and things are sounding positive. Fingers crossed!Important update! 03/03/2018Just under 5 months old and failed with burning smell, crackling and sparks inside. The legs have burned off two off the power mosfets. It seems that am out of the return window now.Looks and feels like a quality product. Seems to be working very well. I bought this mainly to power the domestic fridge freezer in my camper van. The running wattage of a fridge is normally around 75 watts but the start up can 10 times or more so I needed something with guts and am very pleased to say that this inverter has guts. I have owned a fair few inverters over time and must say this is the best so far.

Neat, quite and very versatile.
Working well and very very quite compared to the one we had before. Obviously when it's working near full power the fan operates as they all do and you get a wiring noise but it's very quite. The unit is also very neat. I use this one in my Motorhome but also use another one to clip onto my battery when a need to use my power tools. 1000 watts is enough to run things like a reciprocating saw which was useful for when I had to cut some window frames out at a property where there was no mains power available.

Inverter failed in service After two months.
The inverter operated fine for two months then suddenly started blowing fuses. Replacing the fuse enabled the inverter to restart, however as soon as any load was applied the fuse blew immediately. Electrical load for the system has been constant and the only limitation had been battery capacity up to that point. The load consists of 2x375 watt AC motors which are started unloaded. Load is applied via a belt tensioner. Battery power is 2 x 12V DC 110 Amp capacity with only one battery in use at any one time. Charging batteries is done off line. The product is not fit for purpose. Please advise if this can be replaced/repaired under warranty.
