"The little brother to the 36 volt...!!!
"The little brother to the 36 volt..!!!Well, I've had this saw for a few days now and I'm kind of impressed...!!Firstly, must point out I'm a massive makita fan have been since I started in the construction industry 35 years ago ..!! Disclaimer out of the way now ..Seriously, I've always felt makita have made good tools and this little saw is no exceptionDon't know why I felt I needed a 136 mm cordless saw at my time of life but what attracted me was the set up ie. A right handed set up just like a conventional skill saw which might seem like a minor thing, but its massive to muscle memory trust me, initial impressions where that I've bought a toy it's incredibly light ( I own a 185mm 36 volt makita which I love also the reason that I felt I wouldn't need to buy another cordless saw so soon, if ever )It's what becomes a apparent with the 36 volt is fatigue..!!its a heavy saw don't get me wrong its bearable, but if you're in to 2nd fix joinery then I would say it's just a little to heavyAnyway, I'm really impressed with this saw it's so light and compact you genuinely believe it's not up to the job big mistake, it cuts through timber like a hot knife through butterUnbelievably, I know I've read in a previous review that they called it a "panel saw" and I understand the thinking regarding that remark, I feel it will be one of those bits of kit that will be close to hand on a daily basis I've tested it out on bits of timber that I've got knocking about in the shed haven't found anything yet where it struggles but early days ..!!As I said it seems well made ,great bit of kit if weight is a issue I never realise that weight was a issue till I got my hands on this saw...!!I know what your thinking can he find any fault and yes of sorts it's the cost of the bladesMakita blades for this saw are eye wateringly expansive...!!!considering I can get a blade for my 185 saw a bout a third of the price ,can't work it out..??But lucky to be steered right by a fellow chap on this site regarding Draper bladesMassive saving to be had .... !!Will update in a few months once its lived with me for a few months just to check that I'm not in love with it, just because it's new and shiny hopefully will have some pictures to post as well...... !!!

Amazingly useful bit of kit
I have a few Makita tools so already have batteries and charger which made this was an easy purchase. I had a few ridiculous quotes for a roof to be re felted battened and tiled so decided to do it myself. This saw has been used to cut battens to length, cut soffits and facias, and chop up a lot of stuff that came off the roof.Easy to use one handed, only slightly difficult to see where it’s going to cut but overall such a time and effort saver. Probably did about 100 cuts off a fully charged 5ah battery.I wanted a saw which could cut 50mm deep and be light enough to carry up a roof and this is definitely that

Small is beautiful
I bought this as I've a few 18v lxt tools, so charger and batteries in my possession.First impression was of a tidy well made tool. I tried it first off on some offcuts of wet 19mm plywood. Cut easily and cleanly. On dry sheet materials it's great. So much easier than a handsaw.

If its like the rest of the Makita range, of which I have a number. I am not expecting any issues.
Bought it to replace a cheap mains item. Already have LXT battery's. Previously use Makita circular saws.

Hoping my pictures help you decide?
The media could not be loaded. I am not a professional but a mere home owner who struggles with wood work.I have a few DIY tasks pending and have allowed myself a little extravagance. The box and insert I purchased separately and the batteries I already have for my existing Makita drill. At work, I have used Makita tools to destruction after years of regular use, I know they last.On this occasion I mulled between purchasing what I regard as a full size right through to a mini but settled in the end for something in between. The big battery I am using in the video adds bulk but I have smaller which make it lighter. The cutting blades are an extortionate price. I had difficulty locating the Allen key used to swap blades and thought it was missing? I have provided an image so you will be able to locate yours. The saw looks very safe for two handed use. I remember my dad cutting his wrist badly with a more basic model years ago so I treat these with a lot of respect. I like to electric brake. The blade stops instantly when the trigger is released. There are two notches to align the blade, one for straight cuts and one for angled. The plate that is used for alignment I have seen come off one of these so great it with care. Like a lot of Makita products, the trigger turns on a light to illuminate the work area. The base plate can be easily adjusted by a leaver to adjust the cutting depth.

Superb
Absolutely brilliant. I’m a carpenter so my review is worthy. This is exceeded expectations. It’s lightweight, accurate, easy to use, comfortable and the battery lasts much longer than expected (not run out of juice yet and l used it to clad an 9x8 apex shed gables only). I’ve only cut 12mm material with it and 45x35 timber which was easy. I will test it on worktops within a couple of weeks and I’m confident this won’t be a problem either. You’ll be extremely satisfied with product.
