Very impressed.
Decided to buy this on recommendation from a tradesman. I put it to work on a variety of jobs and not am disappointed. The advent of Li-ion batteries makes me wonder if I will ever need a corded tool again. I am very pleased it has already paid for itself in saved time.I also wanted a new drill so bought a Makita drill in a package deal (large chain store) for about the same price of the 3ah Li-ion battery it came with and buying the bare saw seemed logical as the battery fits this saw. I have subsequently bought a replica battery, but there is no need for light DIY use, as there is plenty of life in the 3ah battery for small jobs. I would not recommend a smaller battery for use in this saw.

worth every penny
What a bit of kit would have given it 5 stars but it dose eat battery's . But bar that I cant fault it . I made the money it cost the second day I had it . On a job I would not have taken on with out it

Powerful, quiet, easy to cut straight and battery good too!!
I've used makita tools for years, their 18v Li-ion range is nothing short of fantastic (remember the old battery tools!). This tool was bought to cut MDF panels outside. Managed to make 4 full length cuts on a 30mm 2400mm by 1240mm MDF panel. Still had some battery life left. It absolutely munches through 19mm thick MDF! It throws up much less dust than my "corded" circular saw too. I sometimes Baton the workpiece for a straight line, no need with this tool it's so easy to keep the line! Good solid cast baseplate too. BUY ONE.

Short Changed
I bought this Makita circular saw from the seller Pro Tool in good faith. It arrived but in a crummy unmarked cardboard box. I unpacked it to realise that there was no Makita carry case, no battery and no charger. Needless to say I can't use or review the product but can at least warn other buyers that the seller has effectively conned / mis-sold me the saw. I say this as a buyer who viewed the photos of the saw in various guises in the sellers advertisement. One pic clearly shows it with a battery and there is no message to say to any potential buyer that by the way the other components you will need to use this saw will be missing from the sale!If I buy a car I expect it to have wheels and an engine so that its drivable, so if I buy a power tool as I have done many times then I expect it to be able to power it and use it!!! I have registered by complaint with the seller and hopefully common sense will prevail and I will be sent the missing parts so that I do not have to take the issue up with Amazon direct.Be careful is my advice...

great saw
Been looking to get a replacement for my 240v saw for a while. As I have the 18v drill and jigsaw this was the obvious choice, its light easy to use and powerful enough to cut 22mm ply like butter. I will see how the blade lasts I have read a few reviews that recommended changing to a better quality, not much point till this one is past its best... Fast delivery and well wrapped...

Great bit of kit.
Cuts very cleanly, So much better than my 30 year old Black and Decker! With the 3AH battery (bought separately)it lasts for several hours cutting softwood and several sheets of OSB. The sawdust is projected from the rear of the machine so it is possible to see the cutting line. Also very lightweight with little blade inertia (not much kick.)Good value for money if you already have a charger and suitable battery.

Great tool, but package poor
Great tool, took up the floor boards last weekend, no problems, arrived within 3day, but the box was splt, with a minor damage to the saw. Also not in a makita box so raised questions. But all works well and at a good price.

great unit
light and easy to use has a defined cutting light and is well enhanced with the led light providing you have good batteries then this unit will last a considerable length of time before you have to change over + you don't have the problems of trailing cables one thing which I feel is advisable is that you need to do is buy the correct case to save any unwanted damage to the unit
