Excellent value and quality
If the paper is Clairefontaine Brand then it is particularly suitable for fountain pens. When fountain pens were the norm, paper was better quality. Now that ball pens are considered the norm paper quality has taken a dive. A lot of pads are produced that are good enough for ball pens. Better quality is required for fountain pens.Clairefontaine is the cheapest high quality paper. It is 90 grams per square metre (gsm) always. Ignore the Amazon description of 80gsm. 90 means that you can write on both sides. When I wrote on cheap paper I couldn't understand why a Fine nib would give a medium to thick line. I now realise it's because the cheap paper has a blotting quality - it spreads the line you write and it blots through to the other side. How much it blots depends on the rate of ink flow of the pen and the particular ink properties. You'll notice none of this if you use a ball pen, but may notice it with some roller ball liquid ink pens.In a nutshell, these books are for all pens. They are normally more expensive, but by buying 10 you are getting them for the price of 5 bought individually. Each book has 60 sheets = 120 pages.

Great quality good value product, but photo is grossly misleading
High quality papers and great colour assortment, however, the product photo is DECEIVING / CONFUSING and should be REPLACED showing the exact quantity and colours because different colours is a key criteria that many buyers require. Showing the correct photo to start would prevent time being wasted during the sourcing stage and afterwards having to return them due to 'Not as Described'.The title suggests Assorted A - Ref 4850, which is the manufacturer's code for this particular pack containing the bold colours, 2 of each in purple, red, orange, green and blue (first 5 from right) If you want the other colours, you will have to purchase Assorted C - Ref 3155Z, this pack contains pastel shades, 2 of each in light blue, pink, yellow, light green, purple ( last 5 from left)I have purchased my pack at a great reduction from the Warehouse Deal described as 'items have been repackaged'. Unfortunately, on inspection, there is not a single book in perfect condition: 8 have bent wires / spine, mostly quite severe; 4 covers are very stained with dirt and 2 have stuck-on brown specs so the paper no longer feels smooth; 3 have bent corners. I immediately reported the huge defects to Amazon and was offered more discount which I have accepted. I think I have managed to fix the bent wire issue, but if the papers fall out during use, I will no doubt be returning them because the product would be completely unfit for purpose.UPDATE Mar 13/19I can see that the photos have finally been amended showing only the colours for this set Ref 4850. As already mentioned above, you will receive 2 of each bold colours: red, green blue, purple, sunny yellow.

The best value for fountain pens
Review is for the A4 10 pack. This 10 pack is not quite as smooth as the individual version I bought over a year ago, but that is probably down to batch variation because the other characteristics are the same. It's white wide lined paper without holes and has a useful ring binding, perforations, and separate card cover front and back. I like the rounded corners. There are no margins and you can potentially write to the edge of the page if you like.Quite smooth and doesn't show bleed through of inks easily, unlike the Pukka pad I tried which was a waste of money as I could only write on it one side. This paper doesn't show up sheening inks especially well. There is some sheen but it's not like Tomoe River paper. At current prices this value is probably too good to last. Eventually they'll figure out a way to spoil it by making it cheaper or pulling 15 sheets. Something silly like that. So you might as well buy in bulk now...

50 per book which is quite good. Lined (no margin or holes) and fairly good ...
Work out at about £1.50 per book which is quite good. Lined (no margin or holes) and fairly good paper - not too thin and not as thick as pukka pads for example. I got these as I produce a prolific amount of notes for uni work. I write using gel pens and these don't go through the paper so you can write on both sides, although you can tell if there is writing on the otherside slightly. It helps to have covers of many different colours to help differentiate between different topics. The covers are matt and can be write upon unlike other shiny surfaced books. The binder is neat and small and is therefore not easily pulled out. Best of all they are great value!

the surface on the pages prevents ink being accepted
I am cross with myself for buying something which looked like a bargain, but was too good to be true. There is something on the surface of the pages that prevents ink being accepted. I have tried, rolling ball, fountain pen and biro. the biro just about works but you have to press so hard that your wrist hurts. The package looks great and the notebooks themselves are attractive, but not if you need to write in them.

Excellent, but only a little better than some much cheaper alternatives
The paper is smooth, doesn't cause fountain pen ink to spread out, and is thicker and therefore more opaque than average. However, even on sale, these are THREE times as expensive as the Enri A5 notebooks Amazon also sells. The Enri notebooks are just as good in every way except thickness/opacity. If you can tolerate a little more show-through, I'd for the Enri's. My suggestion to try those first and then switch to these if you're super fussy. (Or perhaps if you write with a European fountain pen in a bold nib with a wet ink.)

Excellent buy
The book has such a pretty cover and the pages inside are amazingly smooth to write on. I haven't had any troubles with any ink seeping through (although I write with gel pens, not fountain pens) however in certain lights you can tell there's writing on the other side, but not very well. The lines are a really pretty indigo colour. I really enjoy using this book and will definitely continue to use it in the future. I'd say this is a really good buy for anyone, especially students as you get soooo much quality for your money. The only thing I'd say is that the ink took a while to dry, I'm not sure if it's just because it's been a bit more humid lately or if it's because I'm using gel pens, but if you want to highlight your work, wait till the end for minimal smudging, but again that could just be the climate.
