Perfect for workshops
I bought this to use for spray painting motorcycle parts to give me easy all round access without having to keep moving myself. This is perfect.Firstly, this is NOT a roundabout in a kids park so if you are expecting it to spin as freely as one you are going to be disappointed! It needs some sort of weight on it to operate properly and even then, it is only designed to access other areas of the item on top rather than to make the item dizzy! It isn't meant to spin freely, if you want something that spins like that then you are looking for a 'Lazy Susan'This is designed for either industrial use or for easier movement of large objects, which it does perfectly. For this sort of price, you really can't fault the thing. It does exactly what it is designed to do and it does it well.

completely useless for what it's designed to do and defeats the ...
What can I say, this is junk. The rotary platform does not rotate unless you put a lot of force into it and support the bottom from moving, completely useless for what it's designed to do and defeats the purpose of itself if you have to use one hand to hold it down and the other to turn it, the bearings are obviously shot as it even seems to grind rather than glide. Don't bother with this, spend a few extra £s, I only got this for some garage stuff I wanted to do, so I could spin the item around without touching the item as I would be painting it. It's not even worth sending back as the hassle of finding a box and padding etc to put this in and taking it 6 miles away to the nearest collect+ would outweigh getting £2.95 back :(

Not the most free-turning
This is unbelievably cheap. The rotation is rough and ready, but for something that is only turned slightly or occasionally it's fine. Note the diameter. It is somewhat smaller than the usual 10.5"/265mm

bonsai care made easier with this little item
This unassuming little contraption saved my marriage!Ok I'm quite new to the world of bonsai; my little elms had been well looked after where I bought them from and was told most of the the leaves would fall of because of the change of environment. Sure enough they did, but they quickly started sprouting new buds, next thing, I was in proper trouble with the wife because I was spinning the trees round to tend to the pinching out and as I was doing so the bottom of the pots was scratching the (new) work top surface next to the window, seriously, big trouble in little china.Back to the turntable, it is constructed from two identical plates held together in the centre. Inside is a ring very similar to one you will find in a microwave (with ball bearings at three points) sandwiched between them. It was a little stiff to spin at first even without the weight of a tree, so I carefully held open the edge a little and dripped some silicon grease onto the internal tracks the ball bearings run in, within a minute the thing was rolling around quite freely. This is a nice piece of kit that is cheap but very effective at this job.And no divorce proceedings have been filed (not to my knowledge anyway)Ken, Sheffield, England BONSAI TURNTABLE

Not great, but ok for the price.
The bearings were too stiff out of the box so it would not turn easily, I had to take it apart and modify the bearing cage so that it could move freely. It is now fine and fit for purpose, had I known it was so poorly made I would have spent a few extra £'s on a better quality product instead.

Requires Lubricant
As delivered, this item is pretty much useless: it does not rotate smoothly, causing the bottom half - which you need to remain stationary - to skid about when the rotation mechanism becomes stuck. What appears, in the product photos, to be rubber feet are, in fact, just the same hard plastic, part of the same mold, a cheap way to give the impression that it has rubber feet. The hard plastic feet have, of course, no grip at all. Real rubber feet would probably provide enough grip for the bottom half to remain stationary in most cases. This lack of smooth rotation made it useless for my intended purpose, rotating a 27" iMac. The rotary platform just skidded around on the desk.To make it work as intended, I had to pry the two halves partially apart and spray some 3-in-One White Lithium Grease onto each side of each of the 6 ball-bearings. This allows the top half to rotate more smoothly when I push or pull the iMac, while the bottom half remains stationary. Prying the halves apart and spraying lubricant was messy but I did not feel there was any danger of breaking the platform. So, to make this rotary platform work on a desk or table, you will probably need to buy either a set of adhesive rubber feet or, as I did, some lubricant spray. Even with that, you may also need to have a relatively heavy item on top (monitor, TV, iMac etc), I think a light item would not create enough downward pressure for the bottom half to remain stationary when the rotatation mechanism becomes even slightly jammed. For lighter items, you might need rubber feet AND lubricant spray.Designing a mold to give the impression that the item has rubber feet is dishonest, especially when the inadequate rotation mechanism means that this item badly needs rubber feet. Just be aware, if you buy this, that it will probably need some extra work before it will do what you need it to.

Inadequate
I had hoped they would work for a computer monitor, but the mechanism does not sound freely enough and it will not grip the desk.
