Stunning upgrade over the inbuilt headphone socket
I bought this as I moved from an iPhone 5s with headphone out to a newer one with no analogue output. I had used a pair of B&W P5s wired headphones with Spotify Premium that never sounded right and I assumed was due to the compressed audio codec even on 320kbps.Well with this DAC, I was blown away by how much better music sounds. In retrospect, I cannot believe how poor the in-built DAC on the older iPhones was (so in spite of much hatred from iPhone fans and derision of the “courage” from Apple, was the right decision!). This DAC has restored my faith in streaming music and my headphones. Classical and orchestra music sounds lighter, clearer with a more focussed treble and proper (not “woolly and phat”) bass. Vocals are just better.£35 is a steal for the audio enjoyment it gives and is a good compromise for cost v performance. I am sure a £200 Lightning DAC sounds better (theoretically to a dog) but would still get this!

Do not buy, if you want good sound for more than a month!!
The overall sound quality is much better than the cable from apple. It also feels more durable (i have been through 3 from apple, that all broke). The treble is way more crisp, the mids are okay and the bass is boosted just the right amount. The fiio also makes my IEM’s play way louder, if I max it out, it hurts my ears (so don’t do that). The only negative is the cable length, they should have made it shorter, but I get it, then the microphone feature would be useless. I have braided my earphone cable, so now it is 1/3 of the lenght, and it works perfect for me. 5/5UPDATE: The product have stopped working. There is a faulty connection on the wire, down at the lightning plug. If this is the product quality on all devices, I Would not recomend this. 1.5 month easy ide

Improved Sound Quality and Glitch Solution!
Great product.Using a pair of Bose QuietComfort® 20 Acoustic Noise Cancelling™ earphones combined with the Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter provided with the iPhone X, I had been plagued with music skipping, pausing, fast-forwarding and Siri randomly kicking in. This product solved that problem - no more glitches. On top of that, the sound quality is noticeably better - if you have a decent pair of wired headphones/earphones, you’re largely wasting them going through the standard Apple adapter. There’s one weird thing... this product has built in inline controls and mic - my experience with the Bose earphones which also have inline controls is that the controls on the Bose earphones themselves are now disabled (with the exception of the “Aware mode” which controls the noise cancelling, this still works). However, the mic is active on Bose earphones and disabled on the FiiO i1 (which makes sense as the inline mic is always going to be closer to your face, obviously). This results in essentially full functionality between the two devices so it’s not an issue. The other thing that may be an issue for you is the length of the cable - it’s long but comes with a handy rubber tie so not a major problem for me. Also useful if replacing the headphone cable entirely which I assume you could do if using headphones that connect at the bins themselves. So, all in all a great product - Apple however, need to have a serious word with themselves!

Don't buy. The product sounds great, but it breaks fast.
At first the product was great. I already use Bose sound canceling headphones that already have an amplifier, but the quality was improved further with these. The wire is far, far too long, but manageable.I go through an apple adapter every 2 months, they are horrifically poorly manufactured, and I was looking for something that would last me a decent amount of time... After a few days of searching through everything on the market, these looked the best. They managed to break EVEN FASTER than the Apple ones, which is really saying something..... At first they started to play music through the speakers while the headphones were connected, and then they refused to reconnect, and then after a few days of this, the connected literally snapped off in my pocket and got stuck in my phone. I've had them for 5 weeks.Returning for a refund.
