Sort of works
I loved the idea dea so snapped one up here on Amazon.Firstly, positives, it has a wide range of holes to suit any number of herbs and if you are so inclined, can also pick lavender heads ( if you like me harv st lavender from your garden, dry it and then try to harvest tye little seed pods to use in heat bags or give as gifts or cook with it, you know tye pain caused when tye wee beastie mini twigs dig into your skin and fingernails). Not so good...The green " cover" is actually hard, I thought it would be silicone, and it comes off very easily, especially with woody herbs like thyme, rosemary and the aforementioned lavender, where you need a little more resistance to pull it through. This is tye second issue..What are s beneath the green plastic and s a very sharp edge.At first I thought, great, weekend t has a little chipper as well, however the opposite side is also sharp, but wavy, so you can't use the opposite side for chopping, and the plastic doesn't fit onto the opposite side to allow you to use the straight-ish side to cut, so I am baffled why the plastic isn't actually attached, because you need to hold that side to give you a grip to pull the herbs through. There were no instructions, so I remain baffled and will at some point superglue the green plastic in place, unless some kind soul can explain what I am doing wrong here?So for me it sort of works, right out of the little clear cellophane wrap it came in, (mention this btw in case you wish to give it as a gift you might wish to get a little box or wrapping paper as the way it arrives looks rather tacky in my personal opinion)However to use it safely, as far as I can see, you need to affix the green plastic yourself.

Handy little gadget
It's easy to use and is good for purpose. I use a lot of herbs in my cooking and this makes preparing them easy. It strips off the leaves and makes chopping them an easy job.

A wonderful little kitchen gadget!
Whether you're using dried thyme or fresh parsely, this handy little device couldn't be simpler yet so effective.Stripping herbs and chopping them can all be done with this purpose made tool. Whether you're getting vanilla stripped, or de-leafing spiky herbs, this device has a hole to make it easier. The integrated (hidden) blade is great too - corriander prep is much more fun!The device is easy to wash in the dishwasher, although we take the blade cover off to do so.For around £4, this is a great little addition to your kitchen tools!Thumbs-up.

This won't disappoint!
If you like herbs...you'll love this! Some gadgets are just that...things that we think are a good idea then get relegated to the back of the cupboard or drawer. But this little beauty is going to come into it's own in my kitchen.I grow and use a lot of herbs, stripping the leaves is always a pain, but this leaf stripper makes light work of the job. You just need to get used to the best way to hold it, and you can work that out in 5 seconds. The blade cover stays in place fine, you don't actually need to touch it to use the stripper and I used it fine without the blade cover on and my fingers were nowhere near the blade.I tested out the blade for sharpness on a cabbage leaf, and it's sharp enough to cut through that easily, so herbs will be no problem at all.It just rinses under the tap and is small enough to store in your cutlery drawer without taking up much space, and of course, the blade cover is for that purpose, storing it safely so you don't cut yourself in the cutlery drawer

Great for all but the smallest/softest herbs
I've been fairly impressed by this herb stripper and chopper. For most of the herbs I've tried it's done a fairly good job of stripping the herbs from the stalks although for parsley I've struggled to get it to work as well as it does with rosemary or thyme. The chopping side of it is sharp enough to make short work of things although if you have a lot of herbs to chop for something like a tabouleh you'll be better off using a mezaluna or large sharp chef's nice. The blade guard can be placed over the blunt end to provide a little bit of cushioning but to be honest I noticed little difference between having it on and not. This does make life a little easier for most herb leaf stripping.
