Buying products direct from China is a guilty pleasure for me (I'm old enough to remember when it was not possible.) You never know whether you are buying a bargain priced gem, or a disappointment, untill it arrives with a China Post stamp on it. So far, I think this thermometer falls into the first category - bargain priced gem. I have tested accuracy. In a cup of water with Ice cubes , it measued 0.4 centegrade and in a boiling kettle, it measured 100.1 centigrade. That's more than accurate enought for something I am going to use to test cooked meat.

So easy to use and what a good idea to have a cover for it. This fits in my cutlery drawer nicely and I tend to use it every time I cook a roast. May even try it when I make the Christmas cake.

I have bought this product for cooking salted caramel (which needs to be boiled to precisely 130C) which will then be cooled down and become salted caramel ice cream. I tried it before, without thermometer, and I obviously estimated it wrong as the result was quite different from the one done at 130C. I was amazed just how long it took to reach this temperature from the moment it started boiling, and would never have cooked it this long without the thermometer. It gives me confidence that I do things correctly, and it seems pretty accurate too. For the price I paid it’s excellent value for money.

Item is OK but it did NOT come with either an instruction manual or temperature guide, as it says in the description. Instead there was a small scrap of paper with instructions in poor stilted English and Chinese. I asked the seller to send me the temperature guide, but they just told me to look for it on the internet. Charming

I used this thermometer for cooking meat, as a vegetarian (only one in my family) I was never confident cooking meat but now I am! I first tested it in boiling water (from a kettle) and it read 99.8c so I knew it was reading the temperature ok. I use it most days and it's been a couple of weeks now. It's easy to use and clean, it's thin so it's easy to store in a draw. It came well packaged and arrived on time.

Fabulous gadget, easy to use, small and neat to store and gives peace of mind when cooking, particularly meat. I had to photocopy a chart of cooking temperatures to aim for from my daughter and I keep it stuck on the side of my oven - it would have been perfect if the cooking temperatures had been included otherwise how do you know what temperatures for what foods, which reduces its value significantly.

Purchased this to replace ageing analogue thermometer that I never quite trusted was accurate, not let me down yet and has resulted in being able to bring out roasts at the right time, providing juicy Sunday roasts and taking the guess work out of BBQ cooking. Only negative is screen is a little small, would be better to have a bigger font or screen.
