A versatile brush set suitable for beginners and the more experienced alike
My wife is the artist in our family and she has been using this Morkia paint brush set for about a week or so. She has used these twelve brushes with watercolour and acrylic paints and has had some very good results with both – none of the annoying traits of some cheaper brushes. These are good quality brushes at a competitive price and there are also two plastic paint tray palettes included making this a useful gift idea if you have a budding artist in the family! The brush set includes filbert, flat, fan and round shapes and 3/8, 1/4, 1/2, 5/0, 2#, 4#, 6# and 8# sizes and have traditional wooden handles and nylon bristles. My wife has been painting for many years and offers the following tips for the care of your brushes. Always wash your brushes with warm water and a mild soap before using them for the first time - washing them will remove any coating and prepare them nicely for their first use. After use wipe off excess paint from the brush using a towel or rag then rinse off the remaining oil paint with odourless thinner or mineral spirits. Rinse off the remaining acrylic/watercolour paint with lukewarm water and mild soap. Repeat washing and rinsing the brush until the water runs clear.Shake or wipe off excess water then, using your fingers, gently reshape the brush head back into its original form. Always clean your brushes immediately after use. Never allow paint to dry on the brushes. Never leave the brushes soaking in water for a long time. Never stand the brushes on their heads. For around eight pounds currently from Amazon these Morkia paint brushes offer a good value set with some useful styles included. A very good starter pack for students but with a decent quality for more experienced painters too. If looked after they should give pretty good service.
