Stronge machine
This took around an hour to assemble which wasnt too bad. Everything was well explained in the instructions.Use is as normal as the gym. Although the motion of a wire setup is different. Weight seems heavier on a pulley system.I only have one problem where the wire rubs on the nuts at the top. No caps were given for the bolts or the nuts. I took two off a stand I have to stop the friction. It holds good weight in the pic I have 40 KG on.Could do with straps to fix it to the floor. Is this worth the money and time.I think yes. Its heavy duty compact and does more than it lets on.Im 5 foot 10 and it works easy. Lots of room for adjustment on the seat and the leg bar.Hope to be enjoying this for many years to come.

Inexpensive but definitely not cheap
Bit of background, I’ve only fairly recently started weight related workouts and wanted something for home to a: use at lunch while working from home and b: I’m not at a “gym confident” place yetConsidering this I’m super happy with this purchase. Very very easy to assemble and is super stable when up. I’m 5’10 and have no issues whatsoever with range of motion, can only assume other reviews of shorter people that do haven’t figured out that the seat can be lowered yet. You do have to lean backwards to do pulldown to the chest but this isn’t anything either out of the ordinary nor a problemThe actual delivered item differs slightly from the picture in that the lower pulley is actually on a vertical pole not a horizontal one which makes it much better for curls and rows so I’m cladding this as a massive win. Yes it does tend to lift up when doing curls but the very simple answer is to put your toes on the front bar, problem solved. The stack system is very quiet and smooth, load it with either 1” or 2” plates and off you go, no noise, no sticking. As a whole it is very compact so doesn’t take up much space

Good - great when modified.
DTX Fitness Home Multi Gym For the money as an entry level pulldown machine the DTX Fitness version is good - looks identical to the Hardcastle except colour - although I bought it knowing that it's not perfect. The frame is certainly stable enough, note you need a 17mm spanner/socket combo to assemble, and the weight carrier runner held 60kg no problem. I found a liberal coating of "Back to Black" on the runner helps it work smoothly. The pulleys and cable run smooth as well, although I suspect the pulleys have questionable longevity...we'll see! The bars are ok for beginners, but as you progress better quality bars will make alternative versions of the exercises easier to achieve i.e. better grip. Some cheap bike handlebar tape might be an alternative. If the pictures uploaded - and remain - you can see the two modifications I carried out. First was at the lower pulley; a grinder (hacksaw, jigsaw would work) took care of the end piece and now the cable has a full range of available motion, so everything from low rows to cable curls can be carried out. Second was to re-site the upper pulley to allow for a better angle on the pulldown whilst still using the leg pads. A bit involved using various drill bits, a cone cutter, and a jigsaw, but now the pulley has been moved back 20cm the exercise can be carried out properly. I do need to source a shorter cable, but in the interim, with the seat at lowest point it's only the final upper part of the exercise I am missing; note I'm a short@rse so if you are above 5'7" you'll need a cable if you carry out this mod.I suspect any warranty I might have had is void(!), but the machine is now - in my opinion - the way it should be from factory.Edit: March 2019 - despite being sited in a garage the machine has remained in full working condition, the pulleys are free running, and no rust even in the places where I cut the frame for the mods.Edit: July 2021 - still works great!

Good
I got more of a work out building, it could of done with tools coming with it. But once it's up yeah it's not bad for a cheap gym set so I'd recommend it if you don't have the money to spend it's a good start point... make sure to buy your own weights though.

A bargain for the price
Can't fault this at all. Yes the positioning feels odd at first but it's easily compensated for. I'm 6ft and have no issues at all. The design has changed, shown in picture, so there's no need to fudge a work around when doing curls.

Good value for money.
This isnt an expensive bit of kit so dont go expecting 100kg pull downs with perfect stability posture and range. However, this is ideal for beginners/intermediate level. While doing pull downs you either have to pull down behind the head, lean back a bit or turn around. This is because the seat is just slightly to far forward of the to pulley. This been said tho its still more than usable. Im 5ft 10 and feel that an extra inch or 2 of height between the seat and top pulley would give me a better range of motion for pull downs. Stabillity is fine when using the top pulley and seat. However, when using the bottom pulley for seated rows or curls the beware of the machines tendency to slide and tilt. Securing it down with weight on the legs or bolting to the floor solves this issue.Iv had 80kg on the bars so far and there was no issues. I would be wary of going much higher due to the nylon pulleys and lack of Swl info. Iv priced up metal pulleys and thicker cables which would cost less than £30 and give you a peice of mind.My mate who is a fabricator thinks the frame would be fine for up to 150kg. There is potential to reinforce it and with the metal pulleys you could shift a a fair bit weight without spending big money.Overall good product for the price.
