Citadel Colour - Chaos Black Primer / Undercoat Spray (Mainland UK Delivery Only)

I was desperately in need for some new plastic primes. My wife was looking to paint some plastic animal figures for craft purposes and my son wanted to start decorating this growing and precious collection of 1/32-scale roman soldiers. This Citadel primer though expensive had good reviews.After washing the object thoroughly with soap I applied a few testing layers to a few of the soldiers. And I must say i’m quite pleased. The primer applied in a very fine, thin manner yet adequately covering. Most importantly it almost seemed to soak itself to the plastic.I would however point out the more flexible sticking parts like weapons soon lost their prime layer, which is common and to be expected. The only remedy is to replace them with hard plastic substitutes. Moreover, after a little handling also some of the sticking parts like shield bolts lost their primer cover. Yet it is a solid base and start of a painting project. Subsequent layers of colour and varnish will do the job.Lastly I would say, I couldn’t find a white variant. The black is great as a primer for metal coloured paints but leaves all other coloured parts with a dark tone.

So much easier than painting on the base colour, love this concept. Good coverage too

It is what it is, does the job, and I pay the gw prices because I know it works.Still expensive though.

Does what it says on the tin

I buy this to prime my 3d prints. It seems to magically reduce some of the layering but retain most of the important detail. Exactly what I want, and provides a stable base for painting on top of. Works better, in my opinion, than the white version of the same product
