Owner Bernie Everard studied Food Science in University, and had always been interested in the Irish food industry. She also enjoyed using slate for crafting interesting home products for her family business. The two came together in Bernie's mind when she realized how wonderful it would be to design slateware for home cooks, offering them the same quality and feel that restaurants already enjoyed. Inspired by daughters Sive and Roisin, Bernie had the family support and the motivation she needed to give her line of products the "SPLATE" identity.
