Excellent for the price
Sometimes the cheap option isn't a bad thing! This little skiving blade does a decent job of both skiving and cutting. It arrived pretty sharp though I suspect I will need it quite a bit sharper to get a good clean finish every time. Definitely a good place to start!

Good for a beginner
There is nothing not to like with this skiving knife for the beginner. It comes reasonably sharp and it skives smoothly. I'm not sure the steel is fantastically durable, but as long as you keep the blade honed with a strop, it will serve you well until you decide to go for something a bit more upmarket.

Works well for starter level leathercrafting
The edge the blade comes with is sharp enough to work for most beginner leathercrafters, you will have to get comfortable sharpening and honing the blade though, as it will dull or nick if you're not using a cutting mat or board. I believe only a thin plastic 'sheath' comes with it to cover the blade, so your first leather cutting/sewing project should be to make a simple sheath for this.

I love it
You can't go wrong for the price. The blade arrive sharp and ready to use. It feels sturdy in hand and skives nicely. Seems to hold an edge well and is easy to sharpen. Very satisfied both with the product and the seller. I would both recommend this knife and purchase from this seller again.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
This skiving/shovel knife looks the part but arrived with a less than sharp edge requiring immediate sharpening. If you're a novice and/or don't intend to sharpen your tools then this would be extremely inconvenient.

Handle is a bit chunky
Good value for money, but the handle is a bit chunky to get a decent angle.

Had a chip.

Will take an edge.... won't keep it
I suppose you get what you pay for. Thing is these knives need to be sharp. I can get this sharp with a bit of work but goes dull before the completion of, even, a moderate sized piece of work
