Plasti-kote 21118 400ml Premium Spray Paint Gloss - Mediterranian Blue

I'm quite a fan of PlastiKote paints. They've always been of an excellent quality, and I've used them on many projects.This can of Mediterranean Blue gloss is no exception.As with all painting, preparation is everything. I bought this to renovate an old Kenwood Chef mixer. It was originally white, and in a very sorry state.First I rubbed and sanded the mixer so there was no loose paint or marks left upon it.Then a complete rub over with isopropyl alcohol to clear off any grease or dirt that would prevent the paint from properly bonding.I then sprayed with PlastiKote grey metal primer. I gave it a good first coat, then when it was dry, wiped it down again with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) , then gave it another coat of primer.I left this to dry for 24 hours. Then I wiped it down again with IPA, before applying the first coat of this gloss paint.The secret to spray painting, is to have the can around 30cms from the item, then paint in a back and forth motion, Making sure that you spray past the ends of the item.If you stop your movement at the end of the item, you will find that the paint will be much thicker there, and will start to run.Lots of thin coats is the key to a good even finish. Between each coat, I wiped down with IPA to absolutely make sure the surface was free from grease and dust.I could have used only the one can and got 3 good coats out of it, but due to the nature of the mixer, being in a kitchen and prone to being knocked, I used the best part of 2 cans to get a really tough, thick finish.You can see the final result (Photo).I think it's a really nice colour. (It certainly suits the Kenwood, with its blue plastic parts.)Overall, once again, this is a top quality paint from PlastiKote, and a jolly nice colour too.I hope you found this review helpful.

Plastic coating paint covered well

Lovely feels like Mediterranean colour! Paint went on really easily. Some reviews said it drips loads but this only happened because initially forgot to remove safety cap! One can easily did 2 coats on 1 small and 1 extra large plastic pots. Does have a strong smell though so definitely outdoor only job! Have already ordered more colours!

I didn't have any knowledge of this paint and now i love it.It is so easy to use and makes no paint marks.The colour on the lid is also a great match to the actual colour.I am now hooked on this brand and i have more projects that i am going to do.

The colour is lovely - unfortunately - due to the fact that the packaging for delivery is rubbish - and the delivery man doesn't know what it is - it arrives broken - with a nozzle halfway down the cap - so I'm having loads of fun covered with a plastic apron and long plastic gloves attempting to get the paint onto the garden pot by any means possible. Not worth the price - but it looks nice!

Its not as glossy as I thought when dry but its still a brilliant spray to use.Very easy and can spray any angle and lovely finish just simply after use.

The media could not be loaded.  Having used spray paint for many years modelling and upcycling, I bought Plasti-kote Mediterranian Blue as I'd used the brand before on a model, no problems.The issue was when the spray nozzle was pressed there wasn't even a hiss of air coming out. I kept persisting, shaking and spraying and heard some bubbling. When I took the whole top off, I could see it had come out of the tube fixed to the can and dripped around and inside. Pushing the tube itself didn't release any spray, neither did putting a replacement nozzle on the top.Never had this problem with this product before but on reading more reviews, it seems like this is a current common problem with this brand of paint.I'm now having problems sending it back because it is classed by Royal Mail as a Prohibited and Restricted item "Aerosols for any other purpose (including spray paints, lacquers, solvents, air fresheners, oven cleaners, etc. UK - Not allowed in the mail"Well that's £10 I won't see again.
