Sander is perfect for DIY
Bought this as I needed a better quality sander than my small palm sander. This fits in the hand lovely and has very little vibration while in use.You can easily change the speed, the dust collector works well and eliminated a large portion of the fine dust from going into the air.Only used a couple of times so far but is far superior to a little palm sander and was worth the money, not sure how this would hold up to everyday use. It will definitely hold up to some heavy DIY use now and then.

Nice sander but dust collection poor
Expected better from this make in terms of dust collection which is awful . Sander itself average

Excellent and efficient sander
Bought this to replace my old sander primarily for a shop unit refurb which was all wood panelling on the walls and ceilings and badly painted over many years. The Ryobi worked brilliantly, not too noisey, comfortable to hold and operate and did a great job at keeping dust to a minimum as long as you use the perforated sanding discs !I'm a professional decorator of 35 years and regard this as an excellent good value sander that will hopefully give me a few years of service !

Buy cheap buy twice
I am so glad that I purchased this sander. I bought it as a replacement for a Silverline sander that I purchased to sand my car prior to spraying. The old sander has packed up halfway through the process of sanding the vehicle. This Ryobi sander feels so much better quality. I like the variable speed function. The dust bag actually works and I was surprised how little excess dust is produced when sanding vehicle paint. Whoever designed the handle deserves a pat on the back as it feels and handles excellently. I bought the sander at a good price. My only regret is that I went with the Ryobi brand sooner, rather than buying the cheap toy sander that packed up after 3 weeks of use.

EXCELLENT
This is the 3rd Orbital Sander I've owned over the past 10-12 years. The previous 2 were Bosch & Makita, and this is as good, if not better in some areas.1. The dust extraction works amazingly well, easily the best of any sander I've owned.2. Vibration thru the hands is minimal.3. It is very, very quiet. Quieter than most sanders I've used.4. The cord is a decent length.5. The day-glow colour scheme is very funky.I really can't fault this power tool, and if it stands the test of time, it will prove to be an absoloute bargain.

Brilliant bit of kit!
Does the job efficiently and speedily as long as you use quality pads, cheap ones just don't cut it.

Huge upgrade from the 18V systems
Bought as an upgrade from my 18V Ryobi sander. This is a huge upgrade over the mobile sanders - it is capable of significant material removal quickly! Work flow is much more efficient for larger volume projects. The tiny little dust holder CAN be removed and my shop vacuum can be directly attached (with some gaffer tape to seal) to allow a dust free operation - when doing a large volume sanding project then this is a huge upgrade.Discs for this size are readily available in multiple roughnesses - I have sanded down to 400 grit and get a really nice finish.Good upgrade from the 18V tools.
