Very good and a bargain price
I am just starting out doing a bit of blacksmithing and found this very good in all respects. Techniques are clearly explained, 100s of colour pictures and well-written. Has a series of projects towards the end of increasing level of complexity. While the author is US based, don't let that put you off - all measurements in both metric and imperial and the text reads fine for a non-American audience. My only (slight) negative is that she assumes that you have access to a professional level forge - naturally many begineers won't and will want to set up their own. However, how to make DIY forges is well covered elsewhere on the internet (U-Tube is v good on this). Overall, I would rate this book highly - and her web site is also worth a browse: see [...]. Well worth the money, and I think that this book is by no means just for beginners.

Good guidance
Good clear guidance at last on some of the basics. I was hoping for a guide to bladesmithing, but as it transpires most blacksmiths and bladesmiths feel the need to become arrogant hermits when asked about their trade. All the while insisting that you digest huge amounts of text and insulting anyone looking to learn a new skill. This kind of secrecy/arrogance led to the demise of Damascus steel in the past. Since I don't have the time to go trekking to outer Mongolia and train with a mystic wiseman this book should suffice. The book provides diagrams, tools, and techniques for those looking to make use of the backyard barbeque and anvil.

Bought as a Christmas gift for husband and son who want to "play" with fire and metal. Very clear. Seemingly achievable projects without a smithy.Projects still to be tested, but when summer arrives I suspect I can say goodbye to the back garden

Super bright and easy to place where you need them
Super bright and easy to place where you need them, ideal for those who need a brief period of light for instance from the garage to the house. Switching off 15 seconds later means no light pollution and saving charge power.

Engaging style and perfect depth and coverage for its premise
Engaging style and perfect depth and coverage for its premise. Now I want something that goes further in the same vein - perhaps the author could be persuaded to write a second volume!
