Silverline 934295 Welding Helmet Auto Darkening DIN 3/11EW

I am completely new to welding, this mask made it so much easier thanks to the auto dimming function. And thankfully unlike the rest at this price point it isn't covered in skulls, flames, zombies or eagles!

Very pleased with my purchase, I don’t do much welding, but as low skill occasional welder this mask has helped strike an arc and start welding more effectively as the screen does not dim until an arc is struck, previously with an old style mask I was working in the dark.

The shield is light and reasonably stable to wear. You have to tighten the strap fairly well to stop the shield from slipping down over your face. It's great not to have to hold the shield in one hand while you weld with the other. I can't count the number of times, I've looked at the arc with an old-fashioned shield, so this is definitely a big improvement. The view through it when there's no arc is pretty poor, so you really have to lift the shield to line up the welding rod before starting. Once the shield is dropped, you can still see outlines of things, but it's not at all clear. Once the welding starts, it's possible to see the weld pool pretty clearly alright. I'd look elsewhere next time to see if there's a shield that gives a clearer view when not actively welding.

I bought this helmet to go with a second hand stick welder as I've decided to teach myself how to weld. I have to say it does the job very well. It only has a single shade setting but it's fine for MA welding. The response time is excellent and it's very comfy to wear. I sat and did over an hour of practice last night and I always felt like my eyes were protected. Really like Silverline tools..... very good value for money.

The mask is well built and the operation of the mask is very good. The mask reacts extremely quickly and clears in less than a second. I'm using it with a gasless mig welding set and its a perfect replacement to the cheap foldable one that came with the set. A lifetime guarantee is a nice bonus. The mask comes with a spare lens. The solar panel provides the power and it worked straight out of the box. The strap is adjustable but it loses a star as I'd not feel comfortable wearing it all day. Still, a minor gripe, overall I'd highly recommended it.

Nice lightweight welding mask. No batteries required unlike some. Adjustable to move the mask forwards/backwards on your head but beware: the screws which hold this are simply nylon mouldings and I snapped one by overtightening it so had to improvise a repair. Comes with replacement protective lenses for when the originals get scratched. Clear enough to see through when setting up the weld and darkens instantly when you strike the arc.

Trying to strike an ark when you can't see the tip of your rod is not ideal and usually ends up with a flash in your eyes or striking in the wrong place. I am, of course, an amateur welder, but that's what was happening for me. With this mask, the response is pretty much instant when the ark strikes and I've got a free hand which also helps. The only downside I've found is that if you have an inspection lamp near your weld it needs to have a frosted glass lamp. If you use a clear glass lamp the glowing filament sometimes turns the mask dark.

Esta muy bien corta bien cuando se empieza a soldar para no flasear los ojos solo tiene un pequeño defecto que si hay escasa luz casi no se ve para comenzar a soldar del resto va 👌
