4.5 ⭐️!
Of course I loved this book because Amo wrote it and that girl is a freaking genius! I love how she is able to get super dark with her books but also keep it from crossing a line.Let me just say, Manik is absolutely delicious. He’s a badass, ripped, psychotic rapper who oozes sex appeal. It’s really not hard to understand why girls fall for him, including Beat.“𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙨𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙨𝙤 𝙖𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙡𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙖 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡 𝙨𝙤 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠? 𝙊𝙧 𝙢𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙨, 𝙢𝙖𝙮𝙗𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙢𝙤𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙨.”I also love Beat’s character. Although sometimes I wish she put up more of a fight against Manik, I understand it was hard to resist his allure. I did love her personality and how she captivated everyone around her. She was the girl you want to hangout with mixed with a few dashes of the girl you don’t want to mess with.“𝙄 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙗𝙚 𝙖 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠 𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙤𝙛 𝙢𝙚, 𝙄 𝙢𝙖𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙖𝙢𝙤𝙪𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙙𝙖𝙧𝙠𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙝𝙞𝙢 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙮 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙆𝙖𝙩 𝙨𝙖𝙞𝙙 𝙚𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙗𝙞𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙨 𝙢𝙚, 𝙢𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙘𝙧𝙖𝙛𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙛𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨.”And good God do these two have some HOT chemistry together. They are raw and passionate wile also being dark and twisted together. No one else could bring out what they bring out in each other, they are perfectly messed up together.“𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙧𝙪𝙣 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙢𝙮 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙩, 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙨𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙚𝙩𝙨 𝙞𝙩, 𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙩, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙤𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙩.”“𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙡𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙡 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙚, 𝘽𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙚. 𝙔𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙖 𝙨𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙘𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙮 𝙝𝙪𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙮, 𝙮𝙤𝙪’𝙧𝙚 𝙖 𝙜𝙤𝙙𝙙𝙖𝙢𝙣 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙚𝙧 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙢𝙮 𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙩𝙤𝙤.”“𝘼𝙚𝙧𝙤𝙣 𝙍𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙫-𝙍𝙚𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙨 𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙄 𝙣𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙖𝙙.”To be completely honest though... while I loved this book, the plot, the characters, the nitty gritty of it all, there was one thing that bothered me in the end. There is one scene from a side character’s point of view and at the end of the book I felt like that scene didn’t make sense with what ended up happening. Maybe if there had been additional scenes explaining that person’s thought process it would have so I instead just try to disregard that scene. But overall I know this is a book I will read over and over again!

Raw, gritty, vulnerable, and everything you could want in a book
WOW...this was my first book by Amo Jones and it most definitely will not be my last. This is hands down one of my top favorite books of 2018!This book is dark, gritty, raw, lust, passion, and even love. Damn...the feelings and emotions I have for Aeron are insane! This man, even with his demons and flaws, even with the twisted things he’s done I can’t help but fall head-over-heels for the dark souled gorgeous man. From his passion for his art, to his alpha male personality (especially when it comes to Beat) I can help but swoon and want to be the one to make him whole. It’s hard to truly describe how I feel about his man, but just know that damn he is with every second of your time. And Beat (Amaya)... I love this woman! She is one strong, bada** chick! Despite what others initially think of her she is strong not weak, she is brave not timid. She is passion, love, strength, she is everything.Combine Aeron and Beat and they are the pieces of a puzzle that have finally clicked into place. They make each other whole, they fill the gaps for each other that they didn’t realize were missing. The vulnerability, but also the strength they bring out in each other was a glorious sight to behold. You could feel the tension radiating off of the pages, because there was no denying the chemistry between these two.I can write all I want here, but it’s difficult to put into words just how much I loved this book. But I can say with 100% certainty that I loved every single second! This is a book I certainly will not be forgetting.

Living for Manik & Beat, but the “shocker” wasn’t so shocking.....
“Right now, every feral emotion and feeling is heightened, and he knew there was no way out. There is nothing stopping this now, she has awoken something that should only ever be awake when someone needs to be eradicated. She’s awoken the beast.”To say I became a mega Amo Jones fan overnight is no exaggeration. What takes most authors at least a series to accomplish, she accomplished for me in a single book. With that one read, I KNEW she was my kind of author. One who took risks, didn’t shy away from the crazy, and wasn’t afraid to make one mess of her story in order to create the exceptional. So I went on a complete Amo binge. It started with re-reads of the Midnight Mayhem books which then brought me to the one couple I needed to know more about more than any other. I wasn’t sure what I was in store for, I mean can you even be totally prepared for what she is going to throw your way? Yet down the rabbit hole I went.......I knew Manik & Beat were special from their brief cameo with Dove. Only she could mix two completely different sub-genres into a story that had me reading page after page without taking a moment to “rest”. The son of the leader of the Russian Bratva who is also one of the GOAT rappers? Sounds unrealistic and kinda cheesy? I promise she makes it work! An “ordinary” girl who somehow gets this guy to feel things he has been trained not to? Again, Beat is the kind of heroine who you don’t doubt for a second. I dove into their world and had no interest in returning to real life. So why didn’t it get 5 stars? Well, that’s a discussion for later on in this review. And one that I wished didn’t bug me as much as it did.Overall Story/Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1/2Plot Pace/Speed: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Aeron “Manik” Romanov-Reed: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2Beatrice “Beat” Kennedy: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2Steamy Meter: 🔥🔥🔥🔥Angst Meter: 🖤🖤🖤Book Facts:Told in: Dual POV, with some flashbacks & a small POV segment from another character.About: A stand-alone that brings two seemingly unlikely characters together for one unconventional yet intense romance. Aeron “Manik” Romanov-Reed is a rap god, known all over the world for his music.....he’s also known as the son of the infamous ruthless leader of the Russian Bratva. Beatrice “Beat” Kennedy shouldn’t even be on his radar, yet when she witnesses something she shouldn’t that’s exactly where she ends up. She finds herself his captive, locked away in his basement. He has no interest in her, no matter how beautiful she is......if only it were that easy. But as feelings start to develop, secrets are uncovered that will connect these two in ways neither are prepared for. And the showdown will be one that neither of them may walk away from.Safe Read? I would say so but it isn’t a “sweet” romance. Just keep in mind while this isn’t what I consider a dark romance, it does fall on the lighter side of dark.Ends in: HEA ending (with future appearance in the Midnight Mayhem series). My Thoughts:It’s pretty evident by now just how much I admire Amo and her brilliant insanity when it comes to her stories. Every book I’ve read of hers has the same elements that turn my reading from just a story read to an obsessive experience. This one was no exception. Despite my hesitancy due to reviews poking fun at the ridiculousness of mixing the whole rapper & Russian Bratva dynamics, I honestly found it one of the better parts overall. I mean it’s no different than today’s rappers who are also true gang members....it’s more realistic than you think. It brought an element to the story that took it from ordinary and good to exciting and intense. I loved every version of Manik, even the darkest sides of him.Beat was everything to me. I loved her spunk/sass, her strength, and her inability to just obey. She was exactly the kind of heroine I expected from Amo and I was seriously obsessed with how smoking hot these two were together! But what surprised me in a way I should have already expected was how much I loved almost all the support characters. Katiya was wild and someone I wish could come to life bc one night with her would easily go down as a life altering experience lol.But that pesky negative I spoke about earlier......I’m noticing a pattern with the books I’ve read from Amo so far. This was my 3rd book by her, all 3 pretty much had the same exact big “shocker” twist. I get it, it’s one heck of a twist. ESPECIALLY if you haven’t seen it before or read her other books. It’s something you could never expect OR prepare for any detail of the reveal. But for those that have read her Midnight Mayhem series (that happens after this book but is likely to lead new readers here), it will feel more of a letdown bc it’s the same song just a slightly different beat. Still loved it, I just couldn’t give it the 5 stars I wanted bc it took away that big “wow” moment for me.My Verdict:All in all, I don’t think I will ever read a book by her I couldn’t recommend. Like I’ve said in other reviews of her work, it’s not going to be for everyone.....that’s what makes it so special. But for lovers of the unconventional, this is a worthy read that you won’t want to skip.“I am a survivor, not a victim. I am a fighter, not a coward. I’m a lover, not a hater. I’m his Cub, for now, and forever.”

Romanov Reed
There was a point in the book where I was asking myself “ok Amo, how are you going to flip this because I don’t see her forgiving this..”But she did it.. Amo jones books are not for the faint of heart. They are dark and twisted and so heartbreakingly beautiful. She is my fave. I can’t believe I waited this long to read Manik!

…SHOCKING, DESTRUCTIVE, INTENSE & WITHOUT A RESCUE…
You read correctly, I actually warned myself about a Polish work and then occasionally read it across the board in English. Why ?Of course, because it has not yet been translated or published in German. After the mention of Manik in „In Peace Lies Havoc“ I just had to get to know the incredible beat. Her story begins again darkly and apart from belief, even if she lives her life, hiding in the shadows much more than one could ever imagine. The notorious, famous Manik crosses her one evening, tears her life into darkness and does not let her go.At this terrible moment everyone seems to shake, unfortunately one day it is certain that the body wants what it wants and reacts shockingly to these disturbing psychopaths. The most diverse facades, steel walls that a woman manages to break through, to confuse and to evoke emotions despite dominance. Will Beatrice manage her tormentor to escape her prison or is it just possible to extend the range of the leash? An impressive and very intense reading experience is offered, never lets go and pulls into an intoxicating and addictive reading flow, so that you have no chance to put it away.I can only mention it again and recommend it to everyone who has a unique and not directly transparent, dark story. The further developments in particular are obscure and astonishing in their emotional expansion. What stands out is the suffering the young woman has to go through and involves nerve-wracking developments.#Manic#AmoJones#Review

Lack of flow in the story
To start with I have always been a fan of Amo jones writing, she has thar nack to take you to a high point and suddenly add such a twist to the story that u drop down to zero degrees. Having said that this one book seems to be disjointed. There is lack of flow in the story. The hero and heroine have zero chemistry and the ending just seemed to be kind of wrapped around to finish it off. The story just keeps jumping and sometimes u loose track as to where isit actually going. Also the author has written about the connection between beat and aeron, beat and lenny, beat and kat as well as kyle but there no proper scenes or lack of proper story line proving so. We just have to believe it coz the author says so. Everything seems jumbled up we are in some situation between aeron and beat and on next page we find ourselves reading about something else. Hence 2 stars from me. This book is whole lot if confusion and jumped up situation then a mafia romance.

Amazing dark brilliant book !!!
I'm popping my cherry with this book and author Amo Jones and what a fabulous book this was. Gritty, raw, exciting and full of anticipation from the start to the very end with amazingly addictive characters that held me hostage all the way through; especially Aeron aka Manik.Manik is a top DJ in his field but also the son of a Russian Mafia boss, he is deliciously dark and alpha male and I instantly adored him. He has a cruel side to him but underneath all that bravado there is a heart waiting to beat and be loved. An anomaly of a man he was difficult to suss out at first but as this story gets going you get to know Manik even better, and the pleasure was all mine. As soon as his eyes meet Beatrice (Beat) across the room in a club one night he knows he has to have her, even if it is only for a short time. He likes to possess things and people and then discard them when he is done and he has his sights on Beat. What he doesn't bank on is the effect this young woman will have on him and what secrets she will unfold along the way. Having dealt with so much in her short life their past's and their future are about to implode on them both with astounding circumstances that will have your mouth hanging open in shock.Secondary characters added enormously to this wonderful dark gripping story and I really didn't want to let them all go.Brilliant writing, addictive story line's with characters that will stay with you forever.NOT TO BE MISSED !!!!!

Amo does it again.
As is typical for an Amo book, this one was a wild ride. Twists and turns that I didn't see coming. There is nothing better than a man who is willing to do what it takes to be with the woman he loves. Manik is that man through and through.Dive in and read their story. You won't be disappointed!!
