Hidden Scars: Dark High School Bully Romance (Hillside Kings Book 1)

I really enjoyed the plot, characters, and darkness within this story. It was definitely a page turner, wanting to get to the next juicy part. I like this author because she always writes interesting, captivating stories. The only thing that kept me from giving this a five star was the typos, missing words, and repeat sentences, things like that really irritate me in a story. These things mess up the flow of the story and make it difficult to read sometimes. Need better editing.

Please go through and edit this book! It detracts from the storyline so much.The storyline was a bit different than other gangster archetypes, which was nice.

This was an interesting story, both hot and emotional. My problem is with the lack of editing and overly long length of the book. So much back and forth, it needed to be a tighter read. The support characters were good, the bully aspect over the top. Please consider rereading your own text or getting an editor.

Khalana is from the wrong side of the tracks. Because of some problems at school the teachers and mother decided to send her to a upper class neighborhood school. She’s Bullied from day one. This story has many twists and turns. I enjoyed this read.

I really liked this. I reduced a star because of the sharing part. I try not to spoil so I won't say detail but it just did not make sense nor did it make sense to offend the bullies it just didn't go with the characters. The I love you always but not anymore but now I do was repetitive too. However, every thing else was a 5. I hope there are more books to read. I will absolutely be a fan of this author

The twist on who he is gets called out early on which surprised me; both on who he is and it wasn't kept secret. I liked the interesting twist it wove into the storyline.Even with this knowledge... the reason his mind gives him as to why he is a complete jerk? He has a lot of work towards redeeming himself IMO even with the storylines HEA. Creating a hell for Khalani in Hillside along with Leo, Mason, Colton and their "Dream Barbie" mean girls.Darkly themed high school bully romance, but so much more. Layers of bloody secrets: Cartels, Bratva, Yakuza, Politicians, Conglomerates. The "new to me" author kept me interested and intrigued throughout; couldn't put it down no matter how much I wanted to throttle Aiden.Completely invested in these characters; bring on Lucy & Mason 🥰

I really liked the storyline. It had twists and turns. The editing was horrible. I was re-reading things to try to understand what was being written. It was an emotional ride was a HEA.

This is my first book by Ms. Carmen and let me tell you it most definitely won't be the last. Hidden Scars is an emotional dark bully romance that had me in tears from the get go. Khalani is suffering with the loss of her brother's passing and when she wants to give up she ends up harming herself. Looking for a fresh start she starts a new school on the other side of the tracks. This book is crazy good. It threw me for a loop when certain things came to light. Khalani never thought she would meet someone that she felt tethered to and oh what a joy it was to read how their connection unfolded. I'm telling you all right now, go into this book blind you won't want to put this book down!!

This is a new author to me, and this is the first in a new series. Khalani is reeling and feeling lost after his brothers’ death, and receiving a scholarship from an elite private school, she is hoping for a fresh start. Aiden is a star football player, and he is intrigued by the new girl who is from the wrong side of the tracks, who butts heads with all the popular kids. Khalani is being bullied and humiliated by the popular kids, and she forms a friendship with Devin and Lucy, who happens to be Aiden’s twin sister. This is a well written enemies / lovers’ story, which is dark, raw, gritty, and an emotional roller coaster, with secrets, intrigue, redemption, suspense, bullying, violence, grief, healing, friendships, action, and is a steamy and thrilling riveting page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I really enjoyed this book story was captivating only down side so many typos and words miss placed which really annoys me

I loved the storyline however I found myself getting annoyed at how easy khalani forgave Aiden all the time! I thought maybe some of the arguments just needed to last longer. I also got a bit annoyed at how repetitive the book was I felt like a lot of the same phrases was used a lot in the book.

Best dark high bully romance ever!!!! Period!! This enemies to lovers will have you devouring the pages. I am hooked. I kid you not! I could not get enough of Khalani and Aiden. The tension between these two is undeniable. Their interactions will have you screaming. Did I mention that Khalani and Aiden are both connected to different Cartels? Hidden Scars is one intense book that I highly recommend you read.

This was a good story but my goodness there needs to be another edit. There were so many mistakes that it took this from a 4 star to a 3.
