Book Title: Lick (Stage Dive #1)Author: Kylie ScottFormat: PaperbackBook Title: The book title confused me a little.Book Cover: The cover is so mouth watering! My review: This is book 1 in the Stage Dive series. Being married to one of the hottest rock stars on the planet is sure to be a wild ride. I am usually very hesitant to pick up a rockstar romance because most of them don't appeal to me. But there was just something about the blurb that made me pick up the book. I am so glad that I did. The author did a fantastic job with the story line. It's light, fluffy with just the right amount of angst and s==ex==y that it just makes you fall in love. The story actually gives you a good glimpse of what it is like to live in the spotlight and a world outside it. I loved both Evenly and David. It was amazing to see that even though David made mistakes he owned up to them and studiously worked on them. Evenly was this confused young adult who was still finding her footing in the world while navigating the ups and downs of being accidentally married to a rockstar. I especially loved Mal and his humor and I was pretty excited to read his story! Even for that matter, Jimmy was someone whom I hated initially but after he cleaned his act he intrigued me by the time the story reached its climax. Overall, I definitely enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the other stories.Final VerdictTitle: 4/5Cover: 4/5Plot:4/5Characters:4/5Language and Vocabulary: 4/5Final overall rating:4/5

Loved this super sexy rocker romance!
There is nothing like a super sexy rocker romance. Tatted, bad boy rock star marries good girl in Vegas... it's a no brainer, I had to read it. I made a brilliant choice too. Lick is a rockin' good time with its well written, original plot and sparkling characters that I fell in love with. Kylie Scott wrote a story that sucked me in on page one and kept me enthralled all the way to the end.Not everything that happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Evelyn Thomas learns this lesson the hard way when she wakes up on a strange bathroom floor, hung-over, wearing a huge diamond ring, and the name David tattooed on her left butt cheek. She then meets her new husband, named David, when he wakes up and announces they are married. She remembers taking tequila shots with her BFF and now... she's married. Overwhelmed, shocked, and hung-over is a dangerous combination. She vomits. Who knew this good girl had it in her to do something so extreme as to marry a hot, tattooed, rock star in Vegas.David Ferris is upset that Evelyn doesn't remember their night together. He didn't realize she was that drunk. He thought they really had something between them. But Evelyn has no memories of the night before. She didn't even realize he was the famous rhythm guitarist for the popular band, Stage Dive. Evelyn is distraught knowing she has made a huge mistake, gives David back his ring, and flees home to Portland hoping to get the marriage annulled without anyone ever finding out. But the news of their marriage traveled fast to the paparazzi and now everyone in the world knows.Evelyn had life plans and they definitely did not include getting married to a rock star in Vegas. Her plans may have been shot to hell, but she has a new plan. Get a divorce. But now she is being harassed by the media. Her parents are freaking out. She's freaking out. So, when David proposes she come to LA to hide from the media until the marriage is annulled, she decides it's the best solution to solve this problem. She soon learns that she is way out of her element, and in over her head, when gets more than she ever bargained for in LA and in David.Evelyn is country. David is rock and roll. These two may come from different worlds, but they fit perfectly together. They end up spending some alone time together at David's home in Monterey, where they get to know each other. Evelyn wants to remember what happened between them in LV. David tells her why he fell for her. She's real to him. She keeps him grounded and makes him want to be a better person. David made me swoon with his honesty. Evelyn thinks she's too curvy. He loves her curves. She doesn't think she's good enough for him. He thinks she's perfect. The attraction between them grows stronger and becomes more intense, so they decide to stay married and see where things go between them. But, like any new relationship, there are ups and downs. They struggle with jealousy, trust issues, acceptance, David's 'rock n roll' status, and misunderstandings. And, to top it off, David is closed off, keeping his secrets close. But when this secret rears its ugly head, things between them take a dive. This is a pivotal moment in the book that changes everything in their lives. My heart was in my throat. I was an emotional mess and couldn't put the book down. I had to see where this part of the story was going. Before anything can get better, they must experience heartache first."They're love songs, baby. Love isn't always smooth or straightforward. It can be messy and painful," he said. "Doesn't mean it isn't still the most incredible thing that can ever happen to you. Doesn't mean I'm not crazy about you."The best part of the story was the amazing chemistry between David and Evelyn. They had a lot of good times together with lots of playful banter that had me snorting and laughing aka snaughling. They communicate, handling the situation, despite the fact they rushed into marriage so soon. They were mature about things. Refreshing! And, of course, they also have lots sexy times together that got me all hot and bothered. As it turns out, boring, inexperienced Evelyn is a wild cat when she unleashes her sexual energy on David. There was definitely no boring sexy times between these two. David and Evelyn got their freak on anywhere and everywhere. They are so incredibly sexy and passionate together."My blood felt fever hot, surging through me, burning beneath my skin. I fit my mouth to his, wanting more. Wanting it all. The wet of his mouth and the skill of his tongue. All of him. No one kissed like David. As though kissing me beat breathing, eating, sleeping or anything else he might have otherwise planned to do with the rest of his life."By the end of the story, both David and Evelyn have a lot of character growth. I couldn't have asked for a better ending. David truly comes through for Evelyn in so many ways. Sigh. I love that sexy rock star to pieces. So, even though they had to work hard for it, they do get their happy ending that will make your heart smile.Lick is the first book in the Stage Dive series by Kylie Scott. This book made me say 'hell yeah' when I was done. I love emotional reads and this book evoked a lot of emotions. I love the witty humor. I love the fabulous secondary characters introduced. And I really love the strong and sassy heroine and the swoon-worthy rock star that has a charming and sweet side. I am super excited for the next book in the series. I'm hoping for Mal's book next. I love that sexy-ass drummer. I'm dying to know his secrets.Rating: B+Heat: Hot-- A Romantic Book Affairs Review

SO GOOD.
I really LOVED Lick! So much. For so, so many reasons. And I wanted to give it 5 out of 5 stars, but there are a few things that nagged me in this story that I can't let go and so I'm giving it a 4 out of 5- which is still VERY GOOD! :D****SPOILERS***************SPOILERS****************SPOILERS**** So please don't read any further if you don't like them! Here's what nagged me:1: I wish Evelyn would have remembered more bits and pieces about their night/wedding in Vegas throughout the story. I don't like that she doesn't seem to have much of an emotional connection to that night like David does. I realize this is because she "blacked out" from all the drinking she did, but I personally would have like that as the story progressed- she remembers more bits and pieces- and not just remember them- but also recall feeling the same type of connection that David felt for her.2: I wish David would have divulged more about that night as well, and explained even more than he did- what all it was that drew him to Evelyn- so much so that he asked her to marry him after only just having met her basically. (I'm a believer in love at first sight. I "bought" that he felt something so strong for Evelyn right away and just decided to jump head first with her, and she with him, then get to know each other later. I personally just wanted to be given more insight into the entire night/wedding and each of their emotions.)3: I didn't like that David couldn't, or rather just chose not to, explain everything to Evelyn right there and then after she saw what she saw after the concert in the small room backstage. It wouldn't have been unreasonable in the slightest that Evelyn immediately turned and ran out, but no- she stood, gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave him a chance to explain- begged him too practically, but yet he didn't. And I did not like that. :\ There just wasn't any good enough reason or "obstacle" for him not to. Up to that point he seemed to be a pretty good communicator, as was she, so I was frustrated that he didn't just take her hand and go explain everything to her in private right there and then.4: I don't like that David still wore the diamond earring. But okay.... let's say he just kept it in all these years because it was already there and in a way even forgot/didn't think about the earring. But when Evelyn noticed the earring and asked if it had any meaning, why didn't he just tell her about it, or in the very least- take it out and get rid of it like later that day or the next. That should of been something he wanted and felt compelled to do once Evelyn had asked him about it, especially if he truly was over Martha- which it's made quite clearly, especially by the end of the story, that he most definitely was. So obviously that whole earring thing was for conflict/dramatic effect. Nothing wrong with that at all as long as it works. In my opinion it didn't.5: And finally I did not like that David didn't explain to Evelyn about who Martha was and their past history, right from the get-go. Evelyn would've understood. Probably wouldn't of liked it all that much, but she would've understood, especially since Martha is Ben's sister and they're like family. I mean come on- he had to have known she would find out eventually somehow and that would not go down well at all- for the one simple fact that he didn't tell her who Martha was from the beginning. Withholding information is dishonesty in its own way. But again, this was obviously part of the story for dramatic effect, and again- it didn't work for me. Oh and one other thing..... that he asked Martha to look out for Evelyn during the concert- so not cool- especially because Evelyn was CLUELESS to who Martha was because David was keeping it a secret!I know there will be more books in this series, but I'm thinking they will be the stories of the other band members like Mal or Jimmy, which I would certainly like to read without a doubt. However, I am hoping the next book will still be about David and Evelyn's story. While Lick was overall a really beautiful, emotional love story with a great HEA that I LOVED, I still feel there's more to be told. I'd like all of the above things that I didn't like about the story in this book to be part of the next one- as in reflected upon and discussed in more depth between David and Evelyn. If that happens then this book will become a 10+ for me! :D And since it is just the start of their marriage and life together, and the fact that they have so much more to learn about each other- there's still SO MUCH MORE of their story to be told, in my opinion. There's enough there for one more book for sure. And an even more fabulous HEA for David and Evelyn. :DHere's what I loved:ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I know I just complained a lot about certain aspects and parts of this story- I'm quite picky that way, lol! - but let me be crystal clear- 'LICK' IS A GREAT, SEXY, BEAUTIFUL, EMOTIONAL & REALLY WELL WRITTEN ROCK N' ROLL LOVE STORY. I could NOT put it down. I read a lot of books, and I forget a lot of them, but this one I will not. In fact, after I read 'This Man Confessed' by Jodi Malpas, I'm going to reread 'Lick'. And then I wouldn't be surprised if I reread it again after that!Kuddos, BIG TIME, to Kylie Scott!!!!PS: I love David Ferris. :D

Great rock star romance. <3 David and Evelyn!
4.5-5 starsThis was a great story! I loved Evelyn and David and really got in to their story. It was very engaging and I had a hard time putting it down. I've previously read Kylie Scott's Flesh series and admittedly wasn't sure how she'd do in a different genre. I shouldn't have worried because she did a great job and I'm looking forward to more of this series.Evelyn (aka Ev) is a college student that lives in Portland, OR. She's studying to be an architect...following in her father's footsteps as has been planned out for her since she was a child. She has had very little sexual experience and what she has had wasn't great. When she visits Vegas for a birthday bash to celebrate her 21st birthday, she intends to find someone to broaden her horizons sexually but the last thing she expects it to wake up hung over and married.David is the guitarist for a band called Stage Dive. They made it big when they were all in their teens and he's lived the celebrity life for years but he found he was getting tired of the same old crap. While in Vegas, David meets Ev, who he's very attracted to and is very different from the people he's usually surrounded by. The fact that she's not a fan of the band and treats him just like everyone else is icing on the cake. He marries her the very same night (not realizing just how drunk she actually is) and is rather upset that (when she wakes up) she's freaked about being married to a stranger and doesn't remembering anything. The morning after doesn't go well and David and Ev decide (rather abruptly) to divorce quickly and go on with their lives. Ev goes home (not knowing David's a star) and is shocked when the press and fans of the band wont leave her alone. David sends for her to come to LA so they can settle things but things are stilted between them and they don't talk. Thankfully, things go off track with the divorce proceedings and David ends up taking her out of town for the weekend to talk things out. Once they get some time alone, Ev starts realizing what she liked about David and why she married him (drunk of not). They spend a few days together, getting to know each other and decide they wont get divorced but will try to see if they're meant to be together (such a sweet part! <3). David (who writes all the songs for the band) has had writer's block for the last couple years and it's been hurting the band but since Ev has come in to his life he's writing again. This is great for the band but it also means they'll have to go to LA so the band can record the new album and Ev dreads it but hopes they'll have their relationship solid before then. Unfortunately, they end up getting called back to LA earlier than expected and things don't go well. When they get to LA, things get complicated by David's assistant, Martha (who also is an Ex). She makes some moves and David suffers a big bout of relationship stupidity and doesn't clear up the situation for Ev making things worse. Ev is heartbroken and goes back home to try to pick up the shambles of her life. She's unhappy but getting by when David shows up, finally coming after her. Ev doesn't fall right in to his arms though and I was very glad for that. David messed up and I would have thought less of her for just letting him get away with that crap. Fortunately, David's in for the long haul and keeps coming back over and over, taking what time she'll give him and trying to make things right. Her friends are great in their support of her and I loved how supportive her brother is as well. Ev finally decides to give David another chance and also makes some decisions about the rest of her life. Things don't go over well with her parents but she stays strong and stands up for herself and David and what she wants out of life. All in all I was very happy with the way things worked out and loved the ending as they start their HEA together. This was a great story. Ev and David were really great together and I loved seeing them get their well deserved HEA. I liked the secondary characters as well and am looking forward to Mal's story which is supposed to be the next book in the series. I'd recommend this story. 2 thumbs up. :D

Great first book in the series!
PJV Quickie: Lick had everything I love in a good read: a sexy yet sweet hero, an `every-day girl' heroine, tons of angst, good secondary characters, and hot sexin'. Lick was exactly what I needed to break my `book funk'.Review:Lick starts with Evelyn "Ev" Thomas waking up in Las Vegas hungover on the bathroom floor. There's a gorgeous stranger hovering over her and a wedding ring on her finger. After a brief conversation, they decide to have it quickly and quietly annulled, and Ev heads home to Portland to resume her life as an architect student and part-time barista at an independent coffee shop. No problem, right? A little drunken mistake that will quickly be fixed so Ev can continue with her `life plan' of becoming an architect, building her career, and getting married/having kids in about 15 years. What she doesn't know is that her new husband, David, is none other than David Ferris - lead guitarist for the popular rock band Stage Dive. When Ev gets home to the airport in Portland, the paparazzi is already waiting, her internship has been cancelled, and her `life plan' has suddenly gotten a little less solid. She agrees to go to David's home to escape the paparazzi and crazed fans, just until the divorce is final. As events unfold and Evelyn and David decide to try to work it out, David's past and Evelyn's future are working against them. ~~~~~~~~~~I read and enjoyed Kylie Scott's two erotic dystopian books, Flesh and Skin, so when I saw she had a new book out about a rock star, how could I resist? I was a little put off by the premise at first - drunken quickie Vegas wedding to a rock star - and the cover, but I find I enjoy `rock star romance', so I went for it. I'm so glad I did!You have to check your disbelief at page 1, but as the story progresses, you forget all about it because you like these characters and you want things to work out. I could believe Evelyn didn't know who David was; she's a country music fan, not a rock-n-roll girl at all. (Honestly, I don't think I'd recognize some of my favorite bands if they were standing on my front lawn.) The story is told from Evelyn's point of view and she's pretty funny sometimes.Ms. Scott creates characters who aren't perfect, but want to be. As they get to know each other, they realize they really do like each other, but neither is sure that the other feels the same. David's hurt that Evelyn doesn't remember their wedding pulled all the right emotions from me, and Evelyn's insecurities were sincere and relatable to the reader. There were so many scenes between these two that made me want to shout "Yes - this!" or "Nooo - what are you doing?!?" And the angst - oh yes, there is angst - exactly the way I like it: the can't-eat-can't-sleep-running-on-autopilot-due-to-a-broken-heart kind of angst. When you take all that and add the super-hot sexytime, it's a total win for this reader ;)Of course I cannot overlook some of the secondary characters that help balance the overall emotional feel of Lick: David's friend Malcom "Mal", the drummer for Stage Dive - I loved him and am hoping we'll get his story next. He was pretty funny and flirty and provided just the right amount of humor to lighten things and add perspective. I also can't forget to mention Lauren, Evelyn's roommate and BFF, who gets a surprise romance of her own. I'm hoping we'll also see more of David's brother, who is pretty much a jerk throughout Lick but has the potential to turn into a great hero. There were a few little things that weren't perfect with Lick, but honestly, I didn't care. I read Lick in a day - and was disappointed it had to end; this is a world I will absolutely be coming back to. I am already looking forward to the next book (which I cannot find any info for...yet.). Thank you Ms. Scott, this was just the kind of book I needed, exactly when I needed it.Recommendations:Can I say everyone? LOL, just kidding: Lick will work for you if you're a fan of rock-star romance, love a lot of angst, and have a soft spot for HEAs.
