Perfection in its simplicity
I had considered getting a Kanken a few years ago, but decided to go for a more traditional city backpack that would have better padding for the back and shoulders, as well as some more space. And now that I finally got it, I realised how wrong I was!My main use for my bags is just carrying some essential stuff when out and about in the city (like a water bottle, an umbrella, powerbanks and chargers, a couple of books and notepads, a lunchbox, my work uniform etc). That stuff fits comfortably in the Kanken and there is still enough space for some light shopping, even though it looked impossible when I first saw it.Here are some things that really make this bag so ideal for the city:- The size and the shape. Due to the maintained square shape you can stack thinks on top of the other with no fear of them getting all messy, compressed or make the back use uncomfortable.- The deep side pockets. By putting my umbrella there I save so much space from the interior! The front pocket is also useful, but kinda small and typical for a backpack, as well as the "laptop" sleeve.- The thin shoulder strips! It is funny how I saw this as a disadvantage, because it proved to be such a good choice eventually. Being on the move in a city with little time and space at moments (like when commuting or shopping), I often find myself at situations where I have to hang the bag on one shoulder and while walking or checking my phone. With my previous well padded bag this was a nightmare as it could only stay at this position for seconds before falling down. It is also easier to wear over layers of clothes and makes me less sweaty. Oh, and by the way it is not uncomfortable at all!- The big and sturdy hanging strips. Another genius choice. No need to describe, anybody with a backpack in the city knows.- The fact that the zippers open such a big part of the bag. Resembles a suitcase, makes organising or just finding stuff stored at the bottom so much easier. Also these are some great quality zippers.Summing it up, this is the epitome of a well thought out product. Even though there are no crazy hidden compartments or much to talk about, the designers have managed to solve all the basic problems anyone could come across, in a way that nobody else has. I could only wish for a bigger side pocket that would hold my 750ml reusable bottle, but oh well.

Exactly as described.
I'm a KS1 teacher and frequently take folders and a laptop (13" mac) to and from work. This bag is a perect size, and, due to it's very rectangular shape, has not crumpled my loose sheets of paper. This is brilliant as though I love my other backpack, the curved top meant my paperwork often got crumpled on the corners. I would say that though my laptop fit very nicely inside, I wouldn't put it in without a sturdy case as the bag has no padding at all, anywhere. I bought this bag expecting to do exactly that as clearly frmo the pictures, the bag has no padding. The straps are more comfortable than I expected, but are essentially just 'strapping' material, which when heavily loaded and carried on bare skin probably wouldn't be so comfy. There are no internal pockets. I really like how the zips open basically the entire front pannel of the backpack, meaning I can easily 'slot in' and layer up my essentials. This bag is exactly as described and in my opinion is certainly not fake. The material quality is good, sturdy, and the colour is true to the picture. I chose graphite as this is not too 'dark' but also won't show marks too clearly.

Amazing Value for money!
I loved this from the moment I used it! Very handy and love that it’s hard to get into as the zips are underneath the outer fabric so you know your stuff is protected from thieves as they can’t open the backpack easily. It feels comfortable on the shoulders and you can fit so much inside as it opens all of the way out so you can pack this. Very durable and holds up even when it’s raining. It drys quickly when put over the heater and when not used it easily flatters so you can put into another bag or suitcase which I really love! Perfect size for me and will definitely be buying another one in a different size and colour!

I got a real one, and compared thoroughly
I purchased this for my girlfriend with some hesitation. A lot of review here said it was fake, and I think in fairness some of them do look fake. But based on the high price, and Amazon’s refund policy, I took the gamble that I’d get a real one.On arrival, it was pretty squashed and almost vacuum packed, lots of creases. I read a fair few articles online and compared to a friends bay that was purchased in a genuine fjallraven store. I can confirm the bag I got is REAL!Best ways to tell are the stitching quality, if the front pocket has a large crease, and stiffness of the material. Genuine bags are made of a really stiff material that creases when folded up.I followed instructions and hand washed the bag first to avoid my girlfriends back becoming a yellow hue from the colour - abs it dried within a day. After that, we used it for a few weeks, filling it up, taking it in the rain, and we were really happy!Pro’s;Water resistance is great.Really sturdy! The big box shape means you can pack it really well.Cons; The zips are covered, to help with water resistance, but it makes them tricky to get to in a rush. The adjustable straps on the arms feel a bit weird, they adjust by pulling upwards, and you get a bit dangling strap... most backpacks adjust downwards so it’s harder to notice.Overall - great quality and should last YEARS of heavy use.

Fjallraven Backpack.
This is the second Kanken bag I have purchased, I used my first one nearly every day for three years (work bag and a couple of trips) and only replaced it as it had started to develop a couple of small holes. These bags are extremely hard wearing and waterproof and while on the pricey side are worth every penny. Bag is also very roomy and comfortable to wear.Checked new bag against my previous bag and can confirm it is genuine.Shipping quicker than expected.

Great overnight bag
I bought this for an overnight trip. It holds its shape even if it’s not full and feels very sturdy and durable. I was able to fit a lot inside. It does have a big pocket where one would usually store a laptop, but it holds a foam rectangle meant to cushion your back. I personally would not carry a laptop in this bag. It made for a great “personal item” on the plane and fit securely under the seat in front of me. I think this is going to be a favorite backpack for many years.

Small bag
Perfect for your essentials. Not too big or small. Yellow is a nice color.
