Handy
Basic & simple to use. Just like the old fashioned one i had in the 70's, but that was stainless steel and didn't last long. This is like cast iron, Teflon makes it easy to clean in the sink or dishwasher, and the two halves detach. I like the stencil that brands (not burns) onto the bread. Heat proof handles are comfortable & safe. I tend to brush the teflon with butter, use EGG LOAF as it is round to match the cups, and cooking poach eggs (maybe guacamole & a sprinkle of herbs, pinch of salt). You can use normal size bread but have to slice off the excess with a sharp knife before heating on a gas hob, which can also be used for a ceramic hob (not induction) & even camping / trekking etc. The secret is in the timing for the eggs approx 1-2 mins each side or when bread is toasted fully. I bought 2 of these and can get a better egg toasty than the electric toasty makers.

Good item
Good quality, nice sturdy item.Been using this for ages now and love it. The end sandwich is a little small but ideal for the kids. We've used it on the hob, camp fire and I've even used it with a blowtorch whilst at work in the middle of nowhere, 5⭐

Good supplier, received in a couple of days
Good supplier, received in a couple of days. Removed from packaging - dropped on floor, came apart at hinges, bit tricky to put back. Tried to balance on gas stove - it rocked due to uneven grid on stove.' you little devil,' I said. Hey, better hold the thing then, plastic handles not long enough, so burned my hand on the metal bit of handle, 'naughty, naughty' I said or words to that effect....... Learned a lesson there, be careful or put an oven glove on. Hubby savoured the first Diablo, basic cheese & onion - 'great', he said, I then made and ate my toastie, t'was beautiful. 'I love this 'ere Diablo,' I shouted. Got ambitious, so for a week I tried out every filling I could think of - savoury and sweet - used bread and pittas with cheese, onions, bacon, egg and pickle, etc. Desserts are a real treat shortcrust pastry with either fresh strawberries, blueberries, stewed apple and cinammon - today I made a Garibaldi Strawberry Surprise, Yum, Yum, who knows what tomorrow's Diablo will bring? Cannot stop myself using the little devil. To sum up - It's a great little toaster, easy to use, easy to clean and no electrics needed. Just watch out for Diablo's idiosyncracies.

Can't get the kids out of the kitchen
We took delivery of this nifty little item this morning, and my kids have been hard at work at testing it out ever since. Egg, cheese, and onion filling; or cheese and pickle; or bean and cheese; and now mozzarella, basil, and tomato. This is just what we've done because we had the fillings in the house, but I can imagine ham and cheese, or a bacon butty with leftover bacon, not to mention something akin to philadelphia cheese steak -- thin beef with fried onions and lots of cheese. What I really like about it is that it crimps the edges shut like a good old-fashioned toastie should do. If we get the amount of filling and toasting right, we even get the word "Diablo" toasted onto our sandwich. There is a learning curve in getting the bread in right and trimming around the edges. We have probably trimmed off about four slices worth of bread for the 10 sandwiches we've made, but my son likes breadcrumbs to make an old-fashioned breadcrumb fudge recipe (otherwise, I could imagine bread pudding would be on the menu). It is slow to spend 5 minutes per sandwich, so we are purchasing another one. I'm just surprised how it seems to have gone up in price by more than £1 since the weekend when I ordered the first one.Perhaps 2 of these cost the same as most sandwich makers, but a) it works on your stove and not needing a electrical outlet for it to work, b) it's dishwasher safe so clean-up is a breeze, and c) it makes very tasty, lovely little crunchy edges. They're only about 4 inches in diameter at best, so great for a snack, or the first is merely a prelude to the second.

Just cant say i look forward to using it
I originally saw one at a friends who has been using it for years and swears by it for toasties and making muffin sized eggs and i decided had to give it a go. Only used a handful of times, but not overly impressed. It is a nice size, non stick and looks the business, but been a bit of learning curve this one. Like any pan, it gets hot...but unlike a normal pan, this has a small diameter so you have to be careful when handling/positioning/balancing on the hobb. The handle itself is long...but only around 50% is heatproof (like 4 inches) so if you have big hands or just naturally pick it up without too much care, you need to be very careful as can easily end up getting singed. Once its hot...its hot and you have to either let it cool down between fills or very much it risk it for no chocolate biscuit. Recreating the eggmcmuffin was the goal and it does it quite well, done toasties, even an apple and has loads of potential...just cant say i look forward to using it. I'm sure if i ever did campfires/bbqs, it would be kinda awesome to have, but 95% of the time would just be kitchen. I get why its this size, but actually would not mind it being bigger and probably should have looked at the competitor options more as they probably would have better suited me. Although quality is good, tad overpriced for what it is too
