Little Battlers Experience (Nintendo 3DS)

LBX was a series I had never heard of until the 3DS game was announced on a Nintendo Direct at the beginning of 2015. The initial trailer caught my eye and then information just dried up...The game was released with no real marketing push and very few reviews online. This made me hesitant to buy the game, plus the fact I had never seen a physical copy in any local stores made me feel there must have been something wrong with the game.Eventually I took the plunge when Amazon were selling it for 19.99 and I have no regrets. The game has some beautiful cutscenes ripped straight from the anime. But where it really excels is gameplay, battles are deep and you have to change your tactics depending on what weapons your opponent is using and in the same sense the weapons you are using.There are nice RPG elements with each individual robot part levelling up, your character levelling and your weapon proficiencies levelling up leading to new super moves being learnt. It then gets deeper with there being rare higher grade parts that are stronger than standard robot parts.Throughout the game you can purchase any robot parts the shop's have and they all feel different giving you reason to try them all out, also with a bonus card collecting game giving you chances to unlock even stronger parts means there is a lot to do. I would say you could complete the main story in around 20 hours, but if you want to do all the side quests and some card battles to unlock some of the cooler robots it can easily surpass 60 hours.I cannot recommend LBX enough, if you are remotely interested in it watch some gameplay videos on YouTube and seriously consider picking it up. In a year with no mainstream Pokemon games I'm shocked Nintendo didn't show this game off more as it really is a treat.

A fun little game for the 3DS. Lots of customization options which is great, and great gameplay to go with it.A little hidden gem for the 3DS.

Level 5 come up with another polished product, in these days of cheap and soulless mobile games it's great to see a hand-held game with a lot of time and effort put into it- long lasting, challenging and fun for all ages.

An enjoyable experience, gameplay is astonishingly fun, but the story is rather pathetic ...
