Compact little machine that shouts quality... pity the pods cost so much
This thing shouts quality, really pleased we got this version. It looks expensive, even if there's lots of plastic. It's very compact as well. Easy to use and easy to clean. The drip tray and plastic box above it all pull out in one go, only held in place with a magnet. The clear plastic tray then lifts out and all can be cleaned nice and easily. If you have larger cups, the tray folds up and gives you just enough space to stick a cup under. Haven't had any problems. The water container lifts out after you open the lid. Closing the lid clips it onto the main unit - quite clever.Only problem I do have and no doubt other owners will agree is the cost of the Nespresso pods. Yes, you can get third-party pods but we have had varying success with the PG Tips ones regularly jamming the whole machine up. One tip we found - if you do stick a pod in and no coffee comes out followed by the inability to open the lever up afterwards - just leave it alone. Chances are, 10-15 minutes the pressure will slowly drop, allowing you to open it again.Out of all the ones we've tried, other than the Nespresso ones, we have found the Waitrose own-brand pods and the Taylors ones the best. Less chance of the machine jamming up.All in all - very happy with the machine and good to know the customer service is apparently excellent, especially if your machine breaks. Makes sense really as you only need to buy pods from them when it's working.

Great machine
Love my coffee machine, it was expensive so did think for a while about purchasing but so glad I have. It looks so neat in the kitchen, and makes a great coffee . I already have the Hotel Chocolate machine so use this alongside to froth the milk. Great purchase as I use it all the time

Received Delonghi not Magimix
Always loved Nespresso coffee and second magimix machine broke after 10 years. These magimix machines have been amazing. You can no longer get these machines from Nespresso without a contract so looked on Amazon.I didn't receive what I ordered as stated magimix but delonghi was delivered so I decided to return. In this time I have now decided to change to a sage Expresso machine and move away from Nespresso after many years. Makes much better coffee but not as easy as Nespresso but loving learning and blending own coffee.

This product does not have a UK plug!
This coffee machine is fine in all respects apart from that it is sold with an EU plug, which then has to be put into an adapter. I bought this model as I liked the stainless steel finish, but I wouldn't have purchased if I had known this model only comes with an EU plug and adapter. Plug is now overly bulky.

Blinking marvelous!
This is a blinking marvellous machine, it’s so simple and there is no mess. The water tank is easy to fill and nothing on the machine is fiddly to operate. I like the 2 buttons for measured amounts of water and it’s easy to just press either of them again to stop the flow if you wish or to press again for more water. I get a strong hot and delicious coffee with good rich crema. I only drink black coffee and if friends want milk they can add it as they wish. I usually make an Americano by adding hot water from the kettle but you could use water from the machine of course. I always run a small measure of water into my cup first to heat both the machine and my cup. I swirl the hot water round in the cup and throw it away before inserting a pod and making my coffee.I honestly can’t think of any negative points to mention and I just hope it goes on working well for a good few years. Yes, a cup of coffee works out a lot more expensive than using a loose ground coffee espresso machine (I have one of those too) but it saves so much fiddling about and cleaning. I do like the look of it too, very neat and stylish.

An adventure to work out...
This was a good purchase. I looked at lots of reviews and tried to choose a machine that wasn’t going to break down too soon or that felt or looked plasticky. This has a solid look and feel, a nice lever mechanism and is well designed.Note: the one I received didn’t have ‘Magimix’ written anywhere on it or the box or packaging: it said ‘DeLonghi’. It may be a different name for the same thing. It doesn’t matter, as the machine is good.Nespresso won’t sell you a machine like this unless you sign on for a ‘subscription’, where you have to pay more per month than I’d ever spend on coffee. The Original machines are being marginalised this way and all the offers and good deals are on ‘Vertuo’ machines. I had to do quite a bit of research to work out what the difference was and which I should be buying. Original makes an attempt to imitate proper espresso as far as it’s possible with this (very simple and convenient!) system. Vertuo doesn’t: it produces a huge head of foam (not crema, this is just aerated) and is a completely different form of coffee. I like espresso, so I went for Original.I should add that after registering (not 'subscribing') on the Nespresso website and buying 50 capsules of coffee, I was able to register this machine with them for a 3-year warranty. The selection of coffee capsules included to taste with this machine was extremely useful. You can't buy less than 10 at a time of one flavour from a Nespresso shop, and from the website, 50. This is fine if you know what flavour you want; but not for beginners. As for the flavours, I recommend the YouTube video by James Hoffmann where he tries all the flavours that were current at the time he made the video. I first assumed that his taste wouldn’t be the same as mine: he’s a major expert and I’m just a guy who likes espresso. But I’ve found that so far, in practice, I’ve always agreed with his assessment when I tried the flavour. I hope this helps people who might be starting out in this. The machine is easy to use. Working out how to use it wasn’t nearly so easy; I found the written documentation that came with it inadequate. But it wasn’t a problem because of all the YouTube videos. I’d recommend watching both the official Nespresso ‘how to’ videos and also a few independent ‘tips’ videos to get the idea.Unlike the ‘Vertuo’ machines, this one can be manually reprogrammed to change the amount of water it produces for an ‘espresso’ and a ‘lungo’ to suit your taste. That way a ‘ristretto’ size can be obtained, though the machine has no button for it. I can report that this works just as the official Nespresso videos show. It’s quite tricky to get the right amount of water the first time, as the spout continues to drip an inconsistent amount after you take your finger off the button. But this can be fixed by trial and error. Once it’s set, it’ll work the same every time until someone cancels it.Why 4 stars? Because of a question I ask myself, ‘Is this machine better than my single-cup Moka pot?’ So far I’ve only found one flavour of Nespresso which I definitely prefer (given that moka isn’t trying to be espresso, but at least it’s genuine moka). It’s a decaf flavour, and I hope they don’t discontinue it any time soon. All the others so far have tasted a bit ersatz; but I haven’t managed to try all of them yet.
