Three Month Around SE-Asia - the PERFECT travel must-have
With a three month backpacking trip around South East Asia coming up, I spent a very long time researching the Pacsafe Travelsafe, reading other reviews by Amazon buyers and travel bloggers alike. The reviews were consistently great so I thought I would bite the bullet and buy the 12L Travelsafe! So, it turns out 12L is pretty big! Much bigger than I was expecting and in all honestly, I almost didn't take it with me as the night before the trip when I was last-minute stress packing. I thought the Pacsafe would take up too much room. However, when it is empty it does fold down to a pretty compact size and I am I am so, so glad I took it. If I had been travelling solo I may have opted for the smaller size, but the 12L was perfect between my boyfriend and I. To give you a rough idea on how much you can fit inside the 12L Pacsafe, this is what we stored on a regular day-to-day basis when we were out of our room:- Netbook- Tablet- Kindle- DSLR Lens and Charger (We could just about squeeze my DSLR in too, depending on how neatly everything else was in!)- 2 Money wallets- Passports & other documentsThis was pretty standard for us, but sometimes we had things like phones in there too without any problems. Some of the time we had to play bag Jenga to ensure it was all in there & nothing was squashed but it was all fine.Over the course of our trip we stayed in 19 different accomodations, and only ever left the Pacsafe secured in our room. We attached it to all sorts of things - pipes under the sink were a common favourite that worked well for us alongside bed frames, mattress slats, dorm room bunk-bed ladders, sturdy metal shelves and even a door handle (this was the only thing in the room we could find to secure it onto - see photos attached!). We even took it on an over-night sleeper bus with us and secured to a metal pole beneath our feet under the seats in front of us for peace of mind when sleeping. We never took it outside just because there was never a need for it, or we weren't sure if there would be things available to secure it to when on the beach. However I've seen in other reviews & images that people secure them around bike-fences or benches. The locking mechanism seems quite complicated at first and we were both a bit concerned that once locked we wouldn't be able to access any of our items, haha! However, it is very easy to secure and lock and once you know what you're doing, easy to unlock when you're ready. It looks much more complicated when locked and I think that even just the appearance would be off-putting for any opportunistic thieves. I'm pretty certain we just used the standard lock that came with the Pacsafe although for extra peace of mind you could replace it with your own sturdier one with a higher-digit code option. As the end of the trip both my boyfriend and I agreed that the Pacsafe was the best item we bought for the trip and is most certainly worth the expensive price tag for the peace of mind and security it provided. It will definitely be coming with us on all future trips! I would recommend this to anybody, and already have recommended it to several friends & family members planning trips! Happy travels, future Pacsafe buyers :-)

Nice secure bag and great customer service
Great product and also great customer service from the selling company as well as the manufacturer.Product arrived and does exactly what I need it to do. Secure and well made but there was an issue with the padlock provided so I messaged the seller. Seller responded quickly and contacted the manufacturer and within 24 hours I have confirmation that a replacement padlock is on its way.Great service.

Portable security
This bag works great. The mesh around the sides also wraps underneath, so that there's no vulnerability to just slicing underneath. Likewise the top layer which you pull together with the metal drawstring, this material is also metal reinforced, so that once you pull it together to lock the back, there's a lot of metal up there to get through to get at the contents. When I was bought this, I had originally been looking for a metal safebox to stick in the car, tied to metal hoops in the boot. I couldn't find a decent metal box of the right size to contain a typical load of a laptop, ipad, wallets, keys and a camera. This bag did the trick. And being far more portable than a safebox, it means that the bag has far more uses.

Great for peace of mind whilst travelling
Useful bit of kit and great for peace of mind, especially having been robbed once before when our bungalow in Laos was broken into and our laptops stolen. It's actually bigger than we expected, but when you start to use it you realise that it needs to be. We can fit our 2 small laptops in (Macbook Air 11), a couple of kindles, our travel pouch with spare currencies, credit cards, documents, etc, and external hard drives in. It's easy to use and fairly lightweight, so not too much of a problem to carry around, and will fold over double to fit into a daypack or small suitcase, and would fit into a max-sized carry on case lying flat.Agree with some previous reviewers that it would be better if the lock that comes with it were a 4 digit instead of 3, but it's good enough (we hope!). We use the same lock for our checked in case when we fly, as it's TSA approved. The safe itself is easy to use, just pull the wire tight to gather the top together, hook through the little mechanism, loop the excess around something solid like a bed or some pipework in your room, and then slot the lock through. Sounds more complicated than it is, and although it's not as simple as a straightforward solid safe, that's the price you pay for the portability and flexibility of the thing. If someone had very small hands they might be able to get their fingers in through the top or in between the mesh if they slashed it open, but they'd still have difficulty getting much out, especially if you keep smaller things inside something else. At the end of the day if someone really wants to rob you and knows what they're doing then they're probably going to manage it whatever, what this does is make it very difficult for them and will certainly stop all but the most determined thieves. That'll do for me.Glad we bought it, and would recommend it for anyone who wants peace of mind leaving valuables in their room when travelling, especially if you stay in more budget end and out of the way places as we do.

Going on an adventure holiday? Get one of these
Purchased for a trip to Madagascar and came in extremely useful in a number of lower class hotels and whilst on the road. The combination of this and a couple of steel lockable wires did the trick to secure our valuables and cash. As others have said, this safe is surprisingly roomy and easily took my iPad mini, a bridge camera, two smartphones and a wad of banknotes with room to spare. Had a problem with the first travel safe received (the padlock had already been set to an unknown combination) and it took some emails and phone calls to get the seller to agree to send a replacement, but wouldn't be without it now for adventure holidays. Takes up very little room when empty too.

Robustissimo, comodo, affidabile, elegante.
Ottimo prodotto.

Decent except for the included combination lock
Two important points:1) The included combination lock is pretty bad as mentioned by multiple reviewers, so use a different one.2) The 5L bag will NOT fit a 13inch laptop. You can squeeze the laptop in but you will not be able to lock the bag properly. A 10-11 inch tablet is probably the biggest device you can fit it.Apart from that, the bag offers a bit more protection than a traditional bag. Sure, it will take a matter of seconds to cut it open using wire-cutters or possibly even scissors, but it should be a decent deterrent for someone who tries to grab a bag and run, or someone who tries to cut the bag open using a small knife.

Exactly what it's supposed to be: casual security
I had to give this thing 5 stars, just to respond to some of the unfavorable reviews. It is exactly what it says it is and what you're paying for: an inexpensive, light, portable low-security device. It has the security level of a decent cable-based bicycle lock. It comes with a lightweight but perfectly adequate 3-number dial-type combination lock with a TSA-approved key slot. The closing mechanism of the bag is simple and reliable. The lock is simple and reliable. The whole thing is about as idiot-proof as any similar device could be: set the combo on the lock; put your stuff (15" laptop fist with room to spare for passports, cables, wallets, cell phones, etc); pull the cable through the locking mechanism, using the steel beads to select a tightness of closure; flip the free end of the cable over some convenient fixed object; lock the lock. Presto. Your stuff is safe from casual thieves. To open, reverse the process. No fuss, no mess.-Your stuff is not safe from anyone with time or tools. A $15 bolt cutter would defeat the device in seconds. A set of trauma shears would get you into the bag in 5 minutes. It's a fabric bag reinforced with bike-lock cable. It's not Fort Knox. To the reviewer who had $20,000 worth of stuff stolen, I can only say: don't put $20,000 worth of stuff in an 80 dollar fabric bag. That's not what this thing is for. It's to keep the housekeeper from pilfering your stuff or the casual snatch and grabber from snatching and grabbing.-To the reviewer who couldn't figure out how to open a 3-digit combination lock and had to leave the bag locked to a pipe in a hotel in Mexico, a lock in which the user sets the comb by the usual mechanism of rotating the shank 90 degrees when open, pushing it down, and changing the default code of 0-0-0 to some other set of numbers, then closing lock, I can only ask whether they are safe to travel alone. Come on. Figure that stuff out before you leave home. The instructions are written at a 6th grade level. If you can read this review, or even if you can't read this review but can look at pictures, you can figure it out in 3 minutes.-To the reviewer who couldn't figure out how to close the bag all the way and so could not secure their small valuables, even though when you use the inner, tighter, metal bead to close the bag the opening is smaller than a wedding ring (Yes, I'm sure. I put mine inside, closed the bag, turned it upside down and shook. No ring came out and my ring was still inside when I opened the bag.), I can only say that I wonder whether they can use a pair of scissors without inadvertently removing a digit or two. Not rocket science. If you have an intact brain and want a quick way to get some basic security for your low-level valuables, this is for you. If you're brain dead or traveling with serious valuables, look elsewhere. One thing, though, if you have $20,000 worth of stuff you need to secure, I can't imagine what a portable safe would look like. It has to be light. Therefore it has to be vulnerable. Do the math.Have a great trip, wherever you're going! This thing gave us piece of mind on a 2-week home-stay visit to Costa Rica... just let us know that the honest people would stay honest. That is, after all, what locks are for.
