Black and White Photography: A Basic Manual

No matter how much time goes by, the clarity and straightforward writing in this book is always relevant. It’s also fun to read even if you have read it before. It really is that great. Nothing superfluous or unnecessary.By the way, Henry Horenstein is also an amazing photographer in his own right and worth looking into his work.

I purchased this book for a college course in b&w photography. It had a lot of basic information and infographics. There where a lot of photos that illastrated the lessons discussed. I did not think they had enough covered for a "basic" topic book.

I chose this rating because the book was a well written primer on black and white photography. The book was a basic guide to photography. I would recomend it to novice photographers.

Nice, basic descriptions of the various aspects of B&W photography. Good reference for those of us who don't want a computer to control our creativity.

This book is very helpful for those interested in photography. Especially film photography, but the earlier chapters are good for any photographer. It explains the basic principles of photography, as well as gives a good composition foundation. A worthwhile purchase.
