Whit: Unexpected, Book 1

4.5 stars.
I absolutely loved this, and it’s all because of what an amazing character Caleb is, I absolutely fell in love with him. This is quite a lighthearted read, even though it does deal with some sensitive topics, I read most of it with a smile on my face. It had a little bit of angst in it, although things are resolved quite quickly. It also features some pretty amazing side characters, who add even more to the like-ability of this book. They feature as main characters in the other books in this series. Overall a really good read that I highly recommend.

Finally read this, totally worth it!
I kept seeing this book and the series in general being recommended in multiple of my book groups and I finally got around to reading it.I'm not gonna lie, I started it a few times, reading a few lines here, a page there but it just didn't click for. Not at first anyway. I really wanted to find out what all the hype was about though so I tried again the other day and it just finally fell into place. I started to really like it, got invested, fell in love with the characters and then fell even more deeply in love.I related to Whit fat more than I care to admit and Caleb was just a delightful a'hole. I went through the whole load of emotions reading this thing, and the pain before the ending was just spot on. It broke me in the best possible ways. This book was with the wait and way more than worth the read. Once I finally got caught in, I ended up devouring it with in 24 hours and I couldn't love it more if I tried. Can't wait to read more of Cora's works and the rest of this series but I think Caleb and Whit will always hold a little piece of my heart and I'm on with that.My only grips were that after all the pain, it was over with and sorted out a little quick for my tastes and there were a few tiny grammar errors, something I never used to pay attention to until now but none of that could do me from adoring this book so so much. I just wanna give Whit all the hugs but I'll leave that to Caleb and his needy greediness. ;)

Whit - (Unexpected Book 1)
Caleb, a country boy is working in his Uncles scrapyard and putting himself through college to get his Business Degree to help keep the business running. The commute between work and college is a bit too much so when he sees the ad for a Roommate near college, he jumps at it.Caleb has a loving supporting family, an aunt and uncle, and his cousins, Sem, Luke and Liam and his friends Mal and Bree. They kept him going following the death of his mother a year ago.Whit, is a studious, quiet and neat freak. His new Roommate is the absolute opposite, plus he has a crazy bunch of invasive relatives. Whit is happy to sit quietly with his iPad, reading in the corner, minding his own business.Caleb has developed a crush on Whit which he doesn’t understand, he is straight, plenty of girls in his life up to this. After an incident when Caleb returns home drunk and becoming ill, things hot up between him and Whit.Caleb decides, if this is being gay, then he is it. He is insatiable when it comes to Whit.Whit is a man of secrets, lies and wounds. His parents are Romanian and keep pressuring him during their frequent phone calls. Following which Whit becomes angry and depressed. He has warmed to Caleb and says it is only casual until he finishes college.Eventually when Caleb discovers what’s behind the lies and wounds he is devastated and has to leave and walk away. How can he survive this heartbreak? Grab a copy an enjoy this “Unexpected” series by Cora Rose. I suggest you start with Book 1 as the following books covers individual characters from Book 1. *****************************Again I was bowled over by the cover representing Whit I guess, looking gorgeous.

Whit - first in a series of standalones (Unexpected Book 1)
Lovely, fast burn but angsty opposites attract romance with some serious steam. You can’t help but love the characters, and my heart ached for both Caleb and Whit. Part of a series but it's a standalone book, subsequent ones feature other characters from the same world.

So good.
Caleb and Whit are meant for each other. This was a slow burn at first but sure enough the heat between them packs a punch. I like their relationship. Caleb is very honest in his need for Whit and he's not at all shy about expressing himself and how much he needs Whit. Whit is a little more restraint and cautious at first but as soon as they kiss its explosive.

Wow
Wasn’t really sure what to expect from this book but I absolutely loved it! Caleb is a super happy, care free guy and Whit is clearly in need of some love and happiness. There were some things that didn’t add up for me, like their ages and the fact they were in school just didn’t seem realistic, they didn’t act like they were in their early 20s and they hardly ever seemed to actually go to class or talk about school.Caleb is very clingy and affectionate and Whit just seems to go along with it almost for the sake of an easy life.I do wish we’d got more from Whit, almost 90% of the book was told from Caleb’s point of view and this made it hard to connect with Whit in the beginning.Overall though it was a good read and I definitely recommend it.

cute and quirky
Much love for the ‘opposites attract’ tropes!Whit and Caleb made an interesting read, albeit a quick and easy one. Much of the backstory is alluded to, but the character interactions and personalities made up for it with plenty of substance. Most of the book is seen through Caleb’s POV, and his internal dialogue is both quirky and funny, and the heat level is kept at a constant healthy level, Caleb’s unrelenting libido an entertaining read and plot device.Although my tastes tend to sway more towards the dark and suspenseful, Whit’s more lighthearted tone was a refreshing break, and I'm sure, for me, Cora Rose’s writing will continue to be a reliable go-to for an emotionally pleasing and satisfying read.
