Perfectly priced, with good performance
This block allowed me to sharpen a £8 ASDA Santoku chef's knife to the level of a professional knife. I can now cut vegetables with precision and speed, just like those chefs you see on TV as I do have the skill but not the pocket to shell out for £100+ knives :)Whoever cooks knows that the most important part of it is that the knife being used needs to be stable and SHARP... Stable the knife is, even surprised at how much for the cheap price I paid, but it wasn't sharp. This stone did the job and I can now cut stuff like I'm using a pro knife. I'd recommend this product whether you're confident handling knives or not, simply because having a blunt knife is actually more dangerous than having a sharp one, as the possibility to slip it off the food and cut yourself is much bigger. The knife sharpening block is good value for money and recommended. Make sure you leave it for 3 minutes soaking under cold water before you sharpen your knives. Use the darker side first, then the lighted side to hone the knife.Hope that helps and was informative :)

Good, easy results
I've used it on most of my knives now and it get's them all into a workable state. It works well as a reshaping stone before using a whetstone, or for tools. The results are comparable to that of a Fallknieven DC4 which is a well respected pocket sharpening stone used when camping, only as this stone is larger it's easier to use and also a third the price. You get a keen edge, but it won't be a polished razor finish. You can clearly still see abrasion marks like that of sandpaper once you're finished. It looses a star as the fine side isn't much finer than the course side, but it's a good all round stone for anyone who isn't after sushi chef sharp results and at the price who could complain?

Very good
Lots of folk will think any sharpening stone will do but it's not true. I've tried loads of different ones and for the price this is up there with the best. If you haven't used one before it does take a while to get used to what your doing and you will probably make your knives worse before they get better but as someone who can use a sharpening stone properly this does work very well. Size is more than adequate. I've used it on all my knives and it's still looking good and not looking all worn so have great expectation that this is going to last. Would recommend.

A cut above the rest!
Say goodbye to expensive knives! A bit of time sharpening on this and my knife is a joy to work with. I was fortunate enough to use a £450 set of Miele knives a few years ago and after about 20 minutes of sharpening with this my £10 knife felt the same!It would be nice to have the grades marked on the box of product so you don't second guess yourself about which side to use first but apart from that it's perfect.

excellent addition to the kitchen.
I bought this simply to maintain a sharp blade on my knives....This may sound obvious but it can also be used for sharpening chisels (which I havent yet done incase I ruin the block).Wet the block and place it flat on a wet tea towel (to prevent it slipping). Push the knife along the block away from the body at an angle of approx 20 degrees. Repeat the process on the other side of the blade until you are satisfied with the sharpness of the blade. I tested the sharpness on a sheet of paper, if it cuts effortlessly, its done! This block is double sided, one side slightly more abrasive than the other. Always end with the smoother side.Overall, an excellent knife block at a great price. Be aware, the drop through the letter box may land with a bang as it is quite heavy. Packaged to prevent breakages though.

TheAfroKing333 reviews sharping stone
This is a good sharping stone which can be used to sharpen, knives, arrow heads and even swords! It's not very big or thick but for the price it is well worth having. Easy to use and comes with clear instructions on how to do so.I have given it four stars as it works well and does what it is suppose to do. I was not amazed at it so doesnt deserve a 5 star rating but I am very happy with it.

Too rough by half . . .
Bottom line - you get what you pay for, this was very cheap so I guess I can't complain too much . . . But - what was delivered what not the brand that was advertised - tho that may have made little difference to what was in the box. I've used various types of sharpening stones to put edges on scythes, garden implements and kitchem knives and this stone (IMHO) is way way too course (both sides) for anything other than perhaps shapening an axe, spade or a gripe (garden fork)! I wouldn't put my kitchn knives anywhere near it. Seller didn't provide info on the grit sizes and they are 120/240 on mine. I will struggle to fine a use for it. If you really want a stone to sharpen domestic implements (esp good kitchen knives), spend more money and get better product.
