Worked great as Franken mike!
I bought this as a cheap throat mic to experiment with. I have a Baefung 5R and a set of amplified hearing protectors that I wanted to see if I could use together. I broke open the side of the unit that has the acoustic tube and took a 3.5mm audio cable and wired it into where the speaker on this thing had been then ran the audio cable to the 3.5 mm port on the radio. It actually worked better than I had thought it would, giving a nice clear sound on receiving transmissions and the throat mic did a good job of picking up my voice and transmitting it clearly while not picking up a lot of the ambient noises.I'm not sure how durable my patching it all together will be. The wires in this unit that I spliced into are of a decent size but the 3.5mm audio cable I used had a very substandard size wires in it. Not really pertinent to the review of this unit though.I did not test the unit with the acoustic tube and built in speaker. I just started cutting and wired in my own stuff. So if you want something that works well but is cheap enough you wont worry about using it as part of a Frankenstein mash up if you going to cut and splice on it, this is your thing.

Very versitle and fun
I use this for military training and it works well. The cord is about 30" long from throat mic to radio connection and is adjustable so the cord for the PTT button can be fitted away from the main chord that connects to the radio (ex. down a sleeve to hold in the palm of your hand). The earpiece works really well as well. Surprisingly clear transmissions, but provides little ear protection against loud noises so be aware of using it in loud environments/scenarios. I definitely recommend this item.

Great Iteam, not so good on sound quality
Introducing the 1 X Flexible Throat Mic Microphone – a remarkable innovation! While it boasts impressive functionality, there's room for enhancement in the sound quality department. Unlike the S.W.A.T. throat Mic, it occasionally amplifies sound on the receiving end or requires both parties to lower the volume for clearer communication, especially in noisy environments. Despite its potential, addressing the sound quality would undoubtedly elevate its performance to unparalleled heights.

Good but not for real combat applications
Good mic, that does the job. When speaking using this mic, always speak in a low indoor voice. You do not have to yell or to really articulate yourself, since this thing pics up your vibrations in the throat. If you yell or are loud while speaking it's just going to come through distorted. Works with the major brand radios. It is a bit too small though and feels flimsy like a cheap toy, however for the price that can be expected. If you have a really thick/muscular neck don't buy this product. You'll feel like you are being choked and will probably end up breaking it. It does extend to some point to make the diameter bigger but it is still not enough. (bought two of these for my self and a friend, he broke his). The audio quality is good. The earbud could be designed a bit better, it's easy for it to fall out of your ear; I don't remember if it came with different sizes. The pushbutton works fine, although the glue holding the button and it's velcro backing together will come apart easily. I would not recommend this for real military applications, however for airsoft or paintball it's a very easily replaceable inexpensive device which does the job.

Hard to understand....
I got this for communication during airsoft games, but it was very hard to understand each other. The only way to get it to work was to talk slowly and clearly. Using a deeper voice made some difference, but too much of one and it sounded like gravel. We then had one person trasmit with just the radio's built in mic and we could hear them just fine, but tried the throat mic again, couldn't hear them.It is a cheap product so I suppose I get what I pay for, but these are almost impossible to use.I was running the following radio: https://www.amazon.com/BaoFeng-UV-5R-Dual-Radio-Black/dp/B007H4VT7A/ref=sr_1_20?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1482117755&sr=1-20&keywords=walky+talky

I have been using this TM for close to three ...
I have been using this TM for close to three years now - the same one - with only one issue. About a year in the PTT button stopped working. The wires inside had spun resulting in 0 contact. The fix was quick and simple with no cutting or stripping involved. It has been reliable through many airsoft games and many training exercises over the years. Will buy again when mine breaks - eventually.

Works great
I'm an average build (6'1" and 195lbs) and this fits my neck great. Sound quality is very good for people listening to me talk through this mic, and the earpiece stays in my ear much better by connecting to the neck band instead of a lapel clip like other mics. The connector fits my Baofeng UV5R perfectly.I probably use the PTT button non-traditionally compared to what it was made for, as I prefer to have it near my chest. For this reason I dislike the velcro on it and would prefer a clip, or at least the option to have a clip. Not a deal-breaker.

... stars instead one or none is because it looks awesome when on
The only reason this throat mic/earpiece kit is getting two stars instead one or none is because it looks awesome when on; and I really liked the way the PTT button is setup (pretty large, almost the entire face of the unit it's housed in, so it's not easy to miss). The problem w/ it, however, is a much bigger deal. Plain and simple: it just didn't work. Tried it w/ multiple walkies of varying make and model and got the same results across the board. In the very rare event that the person on the other heard anything when I talked it was NEVER my voice, it was a brief "open air" sound, like the mic was open but no one was talking (but I was), and it never lasted for more than a second or two, despite my holding the button down for 10 or more seconds (press and hold, wait a couple of seconds, talk, wait a second or two, release the button). It supposedly supports VOX, but that yielded the same results as PTT. Unfortunately I have to admit that I wasn't surprised given how inexpensive it was, but was disappointed nonetheless (again, but it looks way cooler than other mic/earpiece combos). I've a feeling that in order to get a reliable throat mic that works well you'll have to spend considerably more money...

Mostly works as hoped
Bought this for hunting. Mostly works but it has a lot to do with the user adjusting it to fit properly. For the price I was happy and will use them for quiet hunting.

Poor quality sound. But It does work.
Sound quality was near that of two tin cans with out the string connected.I tried two radio calls and a test . Decided the button mic used wasn't high enough quality to clearly broadcast my voice.
