Great quality
These pots were actually much nicer than expected. Easy to assemble. The material was thicker than I thought it was going to be. So pleased with the quality and price for what you get.

Good for travel, easy for beginners, not very sturdy
These are great for travel — they worked well to keep my plants hydrated while traveling for 1-2 weeks, but the water basin is small so I use extra bowls/glasses of water with extra cotton string if I'm going to be gone for longer than that. The bottom can be tricky to keep locked in place, but if you're looking for a travel solution these would do the trick.Would recommend making sure the string is in place after a few uses — my plants pulled it up into their roots (so the self-watering function wasn't working after awhile).

Great self watering pot
I ordered these pots to repot my larger hoya into. The pots are sturdy, and work perfectly. Love that they are white, and go with any type of decor. Highly recomend.

The mfr doesn't recognize the best feature!
The promotion of these 5 nesting pots (when they arrive) is that they provide a way to water from the bottom tray up, using surface tension through a "wick" that allows the water you put in the bottom tray to be drawn up into the soil at the very bottom of the soil in the pot. Logic would lead one to assume that this encourages the plants to grow roots down deeper as a result. This MAY be somewhat accurate. As a long-time indoor plant cultivator, I was curious and paid (full price, no reimbursements, etc.) for a set. When they arrived the package was surprisingly small, but they paid as much attention to "shipping needs" as to "design features", so a good and tidy package surprisingly compact.Once I saw the overall design, though, I realized that these are designed to do what I have to do with my 6 and 7 gallon size potted plants out on my deck. They are all in wheeled trays (through Amazon :) ), and if it rains for several days the pots get saturated and the trays full of water which can lead to root rot. So I take a single section of paper towel and place one end UNDER the pot, between the tray and pot, and leave the other end of the paper LOWER than the tray, so that the surface tension of the water wicks down, draining out the excess water and helping the plant NOT grow too much fungus and yuck.Well, the clever design of these pots does the same thing, in a kind of reverse way. I have waited to provide an evaluation until I could really judge the effects, and at this point have an excellent perception of what the benefits (and potential drawbacks) are for these. First, forget about just putting water in the tray below using the provided tongue/trough to pour water at the base that fills up the bottom tray. This leads to evaporation of salts and chemicals up at the surface of the pot, not an ideal growing medium.INSTEAD, water from the top normally, and if you are going to be away for a week as I was for spring break where no one will be paying attention/watering, then water the pot a little extra heavily from the top. The excess water will flow down, and into the tray below. As the soil dries out, the wick (provided) will draw that excess water back up into the soil so the plant doesn't dehydrate or wilt. It also reduces the "growth environment" for gnats by drying out the lower tray fairly quickly. I have waited to post this review and the pictures until I could adequately judge how several different types of plants reacted to being put into these pots. The second photo shows a plant I thought was a total dead goner - a rattlesnake plant - but it has put out two new shoots much to my surprise. A delicate fern in another plant is doing "ok" even though I have been purposely ignoring it a lot. A fig leaf plant is literally going crazy, a new bigger leaf each week after putting into one of the larger of these pots. I use a plate under the pots because I am never sure when I will "push the limits" by watering from the top, but none of the plates have gotten wet after the first day when I kinda went overboard as a "test". I like these pots and the design of the wick to pull water UP from the lower tray via surface tension/osmosis into the soil of the plant, allowing more time between waterings, but I will contrast my advice to continue watering from the top, against the marketing to water from below. I prefer mother nature's approach, which for typical indoor house plants is not to rely on a spring-fed water source, but rather water from above that flushes the nutrients downward and not "salts pushed upwards". These are very nice bright white finish, and I did take care to NOT get soil dirt on the outsides while repotting - used nitrile gloves for example - so the finish remained pristine and nice. When fall comes and I start making new daughter plants from the too-crowded root systems I will get another set, and use them to create Christmas gift plants for friends. I am certain they will really do well with Oxalis, for example. Again they are advertised for putting water directly into the lower tray, which will then be slowly wicked up into the soil, but I think they work much better as a way to prevent standing water in the lower tray AFTER you water in a normal fashion from above, as rainfall falling gently upon the beloved plant and then flowing to the roots. That's my take. I like and will buy at least another set. I would also wish they marketed both bright red and dark black finish versions to be more festive and daring in their effect on the home's appearance. White is bright, but can become dull when *everything* is "white".

I really like these self-watering pots! They are a good deal for your money! Very well made and do what they claim! I travel frequently and I don’t have to worry about finding someone to come and water all my plants! I replaced all my non self-watering pots with these!

Perfect pots for maintaining proper soil moisture!
As a beginner plant parent I am absolutely in love with these pots! I prefer to "bottom-water" my plants and these make it so easy because they have excellent drainage holes and come with a water wick and a removeable bottom tray that locks into place. They also have a detachable watering spout to make it easy to water without having to remove the bottom tray. These have absolutely saved my plants because I have not quite perfected my watering technique and these pots ensure that my plants soil stays moist without becoming too wet. As I'm sure every plant owner knows, overwatering is the quickest way to kill your plants but these make it nearly impossible to over-water. Now you can have a perfect watering technique with little to no effort! I have some pots that i bought elsewhere that i drilled drainage holes into and I bottom-water those plants by placing them in a bowl of water for them to drink through the drainage holes but even that technique can be a little difficult for me because if I leave them sitting for too long they become too saturated. But these pots keep the soil up off the water level and allow them to drink through the cotton wick which allows for WAY better balanced saturation and mousture. I will be buying these pots for my plants from now on!
