Amazing
This is an amazing book for those who want to be inspired and move beyond aesthetic yoga ... vanda gives us permission to feel our body and to gift us space to create our own practice according to our soul . Not a how to book !!!! But a book to help us deepen our awareness of ourself and how we relate to space and our environment

An excellent update
This is the revised edition of the book which was first published in 1991, and was made from Vanda Scaravelli's notes by her daughter Paola Scaravelli Cohen. The first part of the book is not a book of yoga asanas, but a wide ranging view of human life and the deeper meanings of yoga There ar many wonderful pictures, often from ancient Egypt showing others doing their form of a kind of yoga. There are pictures of childrren, who often instinctively know how to move. Then the second part of the book gives details of an assortment of asanas from the familiar 'dog pose (adho mukha savansana)to the, for many, unattainable sleeping pose (yoganidrasana).Vanda Scaravelli speaks much of the pull of gravity anchoring us to the earth, and the opposite 'flying up' force that draws us to the heavens. This is a most inspiring book.

Beautiful book
A source of inspiration rather than instruction, this book opens up a deeper, more playful and alive approach to practice. If you want instruction you need a teacher, maybe one who mentions Vanda. Despite a bookshelf full pf books on yoga, I go to my favourite teachers for instruction.

nice overall view on scaravelli
i bought this book because I had an inspirational teacher who taught in this style, and I enjoyed it and like to flip through it occasionally considering each element. If you are interested in exploring yoga from a very personal perspective I really recommend it. I recommend it to anyone as its a great book to have in any yoga collection. Not for someone who wants instruction but more for those needing a new approach.

It's a beautiful book, but...
It is a beautiful book, but a bit too "romantic" for me. Maybe is part of the yoga philosophy and maybe I still don't get it. I started to practice yoga 2 months ago, and I was looking for a book that describes asanas through the proper alignment, but this part of the book is a really brief one.

A beautifully illustrated book full of insight and knowledge
A beautifully illustrated book full of insight and knowledge. Consists of two parts, the first on the 'art' of Yoga and the second on 'asana'. Would recommend to anyone interested in philosophy, movement and yoga. Best for those with some experience of Yoga rather than a complete beginner.

Read in conjunction with a practical guide to sensible postures.
Important to know this is not a guide on how to practice yoga asanas, it’s more a meditation on having yoga as part of life.
