Fun train
After the wooden style this was our first battery operated one. It was great fun. However it takes more work to be sure it doesn’t fall off the track and it goes slowly.

Battery for one or two train cars.
I was excited to get this battery powered train for my grand-nephew. We let it go on the track. Our track had hills and bridges build into the track. The little train engine had difficulty going up the hills and bridges pulling one light weight train car. It needed assistance to go up the hill with two or more train cars. In fact, if I attached a wooden train car if any kind, it needed assistance to go up the hills and bridges. It was still fun to play with and my grand-nephew seemed to enjoy himself as he played with the battery powered train.I must say that i was a little disappointed that it couldn’t pull more train cars up the hills and bridges. I imagine if you have a flat track, then it would do just fine.

Fun addition to the wooden train set
Once you get the battery situation figured out--this is a popular addition to any wooden train set. The speed is slow, and I honestly think that's a benefit; allowing kids of all ages to 'keep up' with the train.Functionally, it does much better forward than backward (although both directions are an option). We have quite a few track options--including hills/bridges--and the train handled them well going forward with numerous 'cars' trailing behind. It would not go up hills/bridges in reverse with a single car.Battery life seems weak. Maybe I had an older set of batteries I used, but I had to replace them after a few days. Something to keep an eye on.
