City To City / Night Owl

Even tracks I was not familiar with had the same punch of great lyrics and of course Jerry's voice and musicianship. This double cd is great value and an all around marvelous showcase if this lovely man's work.

I recently watch the excellent BBC documentary about Gerry " Right Down The Line" It motivated me me to play through my entire collection of his CDs. As a life long fan I have all his CDs , or so I thought. I was quite shocked to discover that I didn't have a CD copy of Night Owl. Listening to it on Spotify I concluded I would still like physical copy to complete my collection. However it seems the only way you can get Night Owl ( other than paying silly money) is this double CD set. For the budget price it was ok to duplicate City To City , which I already had ( Special Collectors Edition). This is a very minimal edition with nothing but a basic CD insert an no remastering. I was concerned it would sound ragged and rough like a lot of early CDs did. But I listed to it on a pretty good set of headphones last night and it isn't too bad at all. Now all we can do is hope for a Special Collectors Edition of Night Owl that matches the brilliant effort made with City to City. A tip - if you like Gerry check out his good friend and fellow musician Barbara Dickson's covers album To Each and Everyone: The Songs Of Gerry Rafferty... it is really quiet sublime.

An early masterpiece from from the genius Gerry Rafferty,should be in every music lovers collection.

Bought it to replace my vinyl version, so I knew what I was getting and still love it.

It`s Hard Too Believe That Gerry Rafferty Was Never Comfortable With Fame, But What A Legacy He Left For A Scots Born Lad From Paisley...

Great albums

Replacement CDs for ones that got lost in a burglary. Gerry Rafferty and I go way back to 1978 when I stood in a local music store looking for something new and they were spinning the City to City album. WOW what a way to be blown away by such greatness. There was not a bad song on the whole disk! His follow up album Night Owl was almost as good and Get it right next time rivals Baker Street in my book. You don't get music like that anymore! Give me Gerry, Al Stewart, Dan Fogelberg, Karen Carpenter and Gordon Lightfoot anytime. Not many left like them today. Michael

Gerry nous a - hélas - quittés 'encore jeune'. Mais sa musique et son style étaient uniques. Ce duo, réunissant 2 CD auparavant individuels, sans en faire une 'pseudo compilation' risquant d'en exclure certains morceaux, est absolument parfait. Chacun de ces albums, lié à une époque de 'l'épopée de Gerry', représente donc un moment hyper agréable, en plaisir d'écoute. Par ailleurs, le coût modéré de cet ensemble le rend carrément indispensable à ceux qui appréciaient Gerry ; ainsi, c'est presque comme s'il était encore là. MER-VEIL-LEUX !
