Compact quality.
A nice compact, but quality set. I'm a service engineer and am always looking to cut down on the weight of tools I carry but without compromising on quality. This set fits the bill. Some have said the case is flimsy but it is comparable to others I have seen.

I really wanted to like this. Please read before buying
For the purpose of this review, I’ll be doing a lot of comparison against the Makita mini-ratchet set. I know they don’t quite do the same thing but bear with meI ordered the Makita set a few months ago for just over £20 as I wanted it as a mini tool kit, fully knowing that it even though it was a 1’4” ratchet, it only included screwdriver, torx, and Hex bits. Little jobs around the house or taking this on a longer bike ride in my backpack…..Joh done.I then realised that I wanted a little kit for working on my RC cars and this required some sockets. There were other options by the likes of Bahco, Bosch, and one other but I thought the boxes looked a bit cheap and people were raving about this Teng set so I thought I’d give it a go. When it arrived, I sadly had mixed feelings on it.The good….- It is truly tiny. As you can see from the photos it is literally half the size of the Makita set. This must be smallest socket set in the world surely. If you want an EDC micro tool kit that just covers the basics for an emergency, this still pretty much ticks the box.- It does indeed offer a range of sockets along with a basic selection of posidrive, flat head, and torx bits. The not so good…..- I’m baffled why it’s so expensive. Let anyone compare the Makita set and the Teng set and they’d pretty much all think that the Makita set is the more expensive one. The box and components feel better and go together better. So regardless of the Teng reputation, why does this one cost 50% more? And don’t think that you’re paying for some clever engineering miniaturisation, because you’re not. The kit is simply smaller because it has a lot less stuff. The main component, the ratchet, is the same length and feels needlessly thin. It could have been the same thickness as the Makita and still fitted in if they changed the inlay mould a bit.- Whilst I would not say the box feels cheap, it does feel like it would instantly crack if it was accidentally dropped onto hard floor (my guess is that the Makita would almost certainly survive).- Getting some of the bits out is a real pain. A few are so snug that you simply can not pull them straight out. You have to remove the entire bit holder piece and then wrestle the chosen item out. This, for me, would rule it out for daily use (but maybe they’ll free up a bit after a lot of use).- The ‘clicking’ in of the bits into the socket just does not feel as good.- No hex bits at all. I would have rather they made the set just a bit larger and included some of those (and yes, I did know not to expect these but it’s still a shame that a modern toolkit has zero hex key functionality as so many things around the home or on a piece of equipment are now hex)So that’s my summary. Yes, it does do the job but is it especially pleasant to use? No. If your top requirement is a truly tiny emergency toolkit for basic needs, still go for it. But if you can tolerate a bit more size, or need a wider range of bits, explore some of the other options, or buy the excellent Makita set and then just buy some additional 1/4” sockets to compliment it (and that would still work out cheaper than this set).Hope this helps

I never knew I could have a favourite tool.
Man oh man. I bought this tool because I was assembling stuff at the time in small space and needed a ratchet that could fit. I'd read about teng and heard they are a great manufacturer, this particular item is great. I've had it for years now and its still in great nik. The bits are pretty good, not rusted like others. The tool itself looks like new. The sockets again looks like new. The mechanism still feels wonderful. Bare in mind though that I don't use it 24/7. It may not fair as well if you work on a shop floor and assemble 24/7 with it. If like me thought you might use it once or twice a week I can recommend it.One area that could improve though is the bit retention method. It uses a piece of tool wire to hold the bits in which at first works great but over time it slowly looses it's oompf. You can remove it and re bend it ever so slightly and it will work well again for a short time. Its a very small problem but fixable.Other than that I'd recommend the tool.

Best of the mini socket sets.
My employer used to issue this excellent socket and bit kit but unfortunately these kits grow legs and disappear so no more.Very small and compact and high quality as usual from Teng. Now the price has dropped had to have my own set.

Perfect for what I wanted and the box is small ...
Perfect for what I wanted and the box is small enough to hide in my toolbag, well worth the money, ratchet feels solid and has undone things I would have thought I'd need a bigger ratchet for! Very good quality not really expensive when you get a quality product I could name some other companies that charge a lot more for the same level of quality.
