This bag can travel the world with you
Whether I was cycling my shopping home, shoving onto a crammed Circumvesuviana train when I was travelling, or going to a lecture at uni with it full of books, my Eastpack rucksack never let me down.I have used Eastpak for the last 3 years and due to their reliability, recommended them to my gf who uses one herself. The padded pocket at the back, is ideal for a 13 inch laptop and together small zip pocket in the back, are really useful for keeping valuables in if you're travelling and going through crowded stations, etc. I have also discovered that by putting all the zips on the same side, you can actually lock the two main body zips to the front pocket zip (as you can see in the photo) and it literally can't be opened, so if you're planning on travelling with this thing, I'd definitely invest in a good quality mini lock. You can fit a surprising amount of things in the bag and this particular colour (black denim) is a really nice change from the straight black (which I and seemingly EVERYBODY has).Yes, some bags are cheaper, but you get what you pay for, and when you think that to change a zip on a rucksack you're looking at 40+ pounds, then this is a true bargain. Even if it lasts you 3 years, it's a lot better than buying loads of flimsy bags at 15 pounds a shot with zips that keep breaking, or cheap materials that rip. It's also very comfortable to wear with it's padded back (even my cat agrees!).If you want a good rucksack that does it's job nicely and will be reliable at the job it was built for, I would highly recommend.(In the photos you can see my first trusted black bag which was the same model, before I tried something different. The black denim version can be seen in the second, unfortunately the cat is not included...)

Sturdy backpack
Perfect size , big without being bulky. Good value and delivered so fast to Ireland. Comfortable bag for heavy items. Feels very well made . East pack tend to last me many years in my experience, my old one still.gling strong 10 years later so am hoping this will be the same

Cheaper materials than before
At some stage they've decided to cheapen all the materials used, so if you bought an eastpak bag a few years ago thinking you will replace it, it won't be, unfortunately. These are thinner tent-like fabrics now, cheapy feel, the zips are thinner and feel cheapy, it feels more like a 14.99 kids bag now, probably from the same factory too by the looks of it. Its real unfortunate, its not a 40 or 50 bag anymore. Type into google premium bag brands and there are some better one's, I wish I hadn't bought it thinking eastpak would keep the same quality. I'm giving it a 4 star review on the back of the 5 star review I gave it before they cheaped it.

Perfect Backpack
This has to be the Perfect Backpack! Bought for my daughter who needed one that would hold her laptop securely and other items. It also needed to be thief-resistant, comfy to wear and stylish as it was for use when working abroad. When it arrived she was thrilled to bits with it. I then got a visit from my older son and when he saw the newly purchased backpack he commented “that’s identical to mine”. He then turned round and showed me the exact version currently on his back! He said he had been using it for a few years now and he would never buy anything else now. He is a photographer and carries his laptop everywhere. Couldn’t believe I had bought the exact one, but so glad I did, knowing how fantastic it is.

Usual Eastpak quality
This bag is much bigger than I expected it to be but it is of the usual Eastpak quality - plain but well-made and sturdy. I've got two other smaller Eastpak messenger bags and I've had one of them for years and it still looks like new - they never seem to wear out! Then again, they are guaranteed for 30 years so there should be no signs of wear from this bag for a few years to come. The only problem with it is that, as has already been mentioned by other reviewers, the straps are extremely hard and inflexible but, hopefully, they may get softer with time.

The best you can buy for this price
Bought this as an upgrade to my old Eastpak bag (which is still perfectly fine after 5 years of everyday use) - but I fancied a change in colour and was swayed by the slightly larger size and laptop sleeve in comparison to my Pak'r, not to mention the good price. The bag is of very strong quality and feels very well constructed and sturdy, whilst still looking casual and stylish. It should be noted that although it claims the laptop sleeve is for smaller laptops (13" I beleive?) I regularly place my 14/15" (not too sure) laptop inside a protective sleeve in the internal laptop sleeve too. The only difference is that you can't Velcro it in place to secure it however it still fits.In short, this is the best you can get at this price.

Lasted less than 2 months
I have a Eastpak soft suitcase which is robust and well made and has survived multiple long haul trips. I thought I would buy this as my standard day sack for work and airports. How wrong I was. The key element of ruck sac functionality is that the straps should remain fixed to the bag. This bag did not last two months in that regard (see pictures). Clearly poorly designed and badly manufactured. For the price this is worse than you would get from an unbranded product. I had a Northface bag that lasted 8 years without failure in this regard, and a Lowepro rucksack that has lasted for 15 years. With regard to the 30 year guarantee, I can no longer return to Amazon, and after finally finding the email to for UK returns find I have to send it to Poland at my own expense, including paying for customs which is too complex to work out, and then have it repaired, or a new one sent back. Since I have no confidence in having a new one because this is a design and material issue, I can't say I am looking forward to either option. If given a new one I would sell it on Ebay, except I have a conscience for the person I would be selling it to. Eastpak, do better!Functionally, if you want an open unstructured bag with a laptop sleeve. It's great, but disposable after a month or two.
