I had a normal toddler pillow for my 2 year old but within a short time it had gone lumpy. I happened to come across this and liked what it represented. A natural pillow that easily moulded to my sons head, breathable and long lasting. It comes in a nice thick cotton cover but was rather smelly. It's not an unpleasant smell at all but is rather strong and even weeks on from being new I can still catch a whiff from the hulls that have moved from being buried to nearer the surface. To start he wouldn't use it, I think because of the smell but he now happily sleeps on it. He doesn't stay on it all night but that's fine as he'll be using it for years! It's also quite heavy for a pillow but that's understandable considering it contains buckwheat hulls and can't be too heavy as I do see him sleeping with his head partially under it. It does make a sshh'ing sound when you move it but I think that's kind of nice, having not slept on the pillow myself I can't say if it's annoying or not but I'm guessing not judging by my son.Overall I would totally recommend this, yes I could of continued to buy the type of pillow he started with but having to replace it every few months just wouldn't be cost effective and very wasteful of resources whereas this pillow will last for years and I'm pretty sure when he's finally done with it I can either pass it on to someone else or empty the contents in the garden!

Not comfortable, makes a noise every time you move your head. It looks like a bag full of shell seeds. This is definitely not for a baby or todler.

So far my toddler has slept soundly on it. It makes a slight sound but not noisy and not enough to stop the little one from sleeping. When it arrived it smelt badly of lavender (I'm not a fan) but it went away after a couple of days of use. It's great to find a pillow made of natural material because it is right next to their head. Woollen pillows often come with a protective layer made of synthetic material, so they're not sleeping next to the wool or cotton pillow case, what's the point? This pillow is natural and at a good price, well worth a try. Considering to get one for myself.

I bought this for my 17 month old daughter a few weeks ago...she seemed to be creeping onto our pillows at night as we co-sleep. As all buckwheat, it is more noisy than synthetic, but the health benefits cannot be ignored. The smell of buckwheat takes a bit of getting used to and it may smell of lavender when it first arrives as they use this in the factory, but this soon disappears. The wheat husks are easy to move around and keep your head from overheating. It took a few days for her to get used to it, but now she asks for her pillow!Benefits:-no chemicals for your little one-wheat husks are safe and should prevent suffocation compared to other synthetic pillows-stops overheating-lasts 20 years-Tony the man in charge has great customer service, both on phone and via emailI love this so much I am purchasing a pillow for myself and a mattress for us both!
