The Philadelphia Naval Shipyard
I grew up in Philadelphia and knew it was there. But I never knew it's entire history and this book covers it nicely.

For Philly naval fanatics
This is a gift for a relative who worked there. I'm not sure how much of an audience there is otherwise, but it's typical for the images of America series: lots of photos and interesting history.

Phukadelphia Naval Shipyard
This book has great pictures and a lot of historic detail. Good enough to read again and again and pass along to friends that worked there too.

some mistakes
There are some mistakes in the book. On page 48 there is a photo of a sub with a caption saying it was there for conversion to a radar picket. The boat has a fast attack or butter knife bow. All the radar pickets had bull nose bows. This boat is a Guppy II being converted to Guppy III.It was cut in half and a 15' section was added forward of the control room to add a electronics space (sonar room). Page 92 has photo ofClamagore (SS 343) Caption says sold to Turkey in 1975 not true…It is a memorial in Charleston SC. it may have been intended becauseboth SS 344 and SS 346 did go to Turkey, but not the "Clam". Picture of Burrfish on page 46 says recommissioned because of Soviet threat. She was recommissioned and sold to Canada. Book has a lot of great photo's. Nice to have if you had any connection to the Yard
