Fit for Real People Basics: A Palmer/Pletsch Interactive

This is a really good video if you are new to fitting and/or have picked up the book  Fit for Real People: Sew Great Clothes Using ANY Pattern (Sewing for Real People series)  for the first time. Marta Alto is a wonderful instructor. She is very clear and provides many tips along the way.This should have been a double DVD, there is just so much info in the book; this DVD leaves you wanting more. My additional criticism is that I would have like to seen more people fitted; instead of one or two people in different styles. If you don't have the same fitting issues as the models, you still don't know exactly what to do after viewing.My last criticism may sound minor, but it is a major issue for me, is how dark the video is. The is the case with many of the other videos in this series. The new  Jeans for Real People: Learn to Fit and Sew Jeans for YOUR Body!  seems to have slightly better lighting.If you are a beginner, owning this video wouldn't hurt. I don't regret buying it. Obviously the specialized videos like  Pants for Real People: Fitting Techniques  and  Full Busted? Sew Clothes That Fit!  give you more in-depth information.

"Fit for Real People Basics" is an outstanding book on fitting and altering patterns to fit any type of body. I highly recommend it to all those who sew. It answers all ones questions on altering patterns, and comes with hundreds of excellent drawings and pictures. It is very well written, easy to read, and the explanations are clear and to the point. I also highly recommend the DVD that complements this book and which carries the same name as well.

I love it the explanation step by step great teacher, this is waw very useful for me that I am a beginer sewing. Thank you very much.

I really regret buying this DVD. I didn't learn anything at all.Maybe for beginner,And if you are a slim and younger person , this instruction won't work for you

TEN OUT OF TEN!!!! This DVD has given me the faith to believe i can finally start looking decent and good at the same time and sew myself a new wardrobe in woven materials FINALLY! I thnak God for this DVD. All my own clothes ae made out of stretchy mateial and bought off rack(from the shop). before i always believed i was too curvy to wear clothes such as blouses and skirts and blazers cos none of them ever fit and i looked awful. so i stuck to stretchy! BUT NO MORE NOW! i cant tell u how happy I am with this DVD which as a beginner sewer, has literally saved me years of learning and racking my brains and wasting time, and money on mistakes and trying to figure things out. IT IS GOLD for any beginner and whilst ive never used patterns before and spent a year trying to figure out and learn how to sew on my own for a year; i might as well have got this DVD to save me the grey hairs that have sprouted since! what a fantastic buy and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you have a curvy figure in ANY way. speedy delivery this seller is fantastic!!! poduct arived two weeks before it was due :) very very pleased!

Starts slow, but there is no need to fast forward as they take their time to go through with you the basics and builds on that. They share lots of useful tips, which once explained/shown are common sense, yet doesn't spring to mind until mentioned. They use "real" people to demonstrate the steps. The one thing I wished they did do is demonstrate the steps as if you were doing it on yourself, not just using a model. Don't get me wrong, they explain why they use a "real" person to model the steps - it makes it clearer and easier to follow what they are saying, but it would have been so useful to see how you would perform the steps on yourself too. I'm very pleased I bought this DVD. I also bought the book Fit Real People. I also bought the DVD - Full Bust Adjustment, which I will keep, but it's not really needed as they cover this on the DVD, that said, the Full Bust Adjustment DVD does goes go into a more detail. I also bought their book on working with Knits which has proved to be invaluable. Great must have tools for any dressmaker!.

The content of this DVD is excellent - I learned so many things that explained why garments (hand made or ready to wear) never fit properly. I found it very worth the money. However, it's a bit grim on the production values: wobbly sound, dark ugly settings & bad light. Even the fabric they demonstrate on is boring, so it loses a star for being ugly. Don't let that stop you if you need to alter patterns though. It has taught me so much.

Very disappointing. This disc will NOT work on U.K. Devices. I contacted supplier who told me it was a U.S. Disc. Why is this not detailed in advert? Why is this sold to U.K. Customers? Returned.

The quality of the DVD filming is not great but the content is excellent. Have gleaned sooo much info from this. Would definitely recommend.
