Built down to a price, but it's not a bad little unit.
I've installed a few of these little units now and I'm pleased with how easy it was to replace the old. The connectivity is obtained using screw terminals, which were easy enough to use, if a little small and fragile feeling. I would have preferred to have seen them a bit more solidly applied to the unit, but as long as you don't try and over tighten them, they'll be fine. The mains and 12v terminals are very close together, unsurprisingly in this small unit. I use crimp-bonded ferrules as a matter of course for this type of work, so I didn't have a problem inserting the cable into the terminals. However, there is little insulating material separating the two sides of the transformer. In other units I've installed there's a plastic wall between the two sides of the transformer that more definitively segregates the conductors. You need to be careful to make sure that there are no flyaway conductor strands on the flex on insertion, or you may short the beast out.Having got the transformer installed it worked perfectly. I was only running one 40W spot off the device, so I wasn't expecting it to get hot, or even warm given that it's a 60w rated transformer. Having left it running for 10 minutes to make sure it was fully OK before shoving it back into the roof space, I was able to confirm that it was still cool to the touch, so it works just fine for my application.4 Stars then. It's a good price. Clearly it's built down to a price, but it's reasonably well constructed. Beefier terminals would be a plus. If I was installing these professionally I would want to buy a more rugged unit, but that would likely be more expensive. As a swap-out for my ailing transformer, it's done the job well.

Perfect replacement for a failed 12V 50W transformer
A perfect replacement for a failed transformer powering an external down-lighter. Fitted in less than 5 minutes and the terminals are clearly marked so you can't possibly go wrong. Nice size so it easily fits into the existing soffit hole and as this will power up to a 60W bulb it's ideal for our down-lighters. Bought an extra one as a handy spare too.

Transformer supplied by Light Up Uk Ltd was not as specified on website, Cable Tails supplied and no Terminal Block
I identified the transformer as the exact match for the faulty transformer that I was replacing i.e. transformer with integral terminal block (the terminal block being accessible upon unscrewing the cover at one end, thereby exposing the terminal block (4 terminals, 2 for input & 2 for output). I debated whether to order the transformer from Light Up UK Ltd following a review of the reviews particularly the review where the reviewer stated that the transformer was supplied with cable tails (tails being soldered inside the transformer under the cover) and not the terminal block as specified on the Amazon website. I thought that as this was the only review that mentioned cable tails and that Light Up UK Ltd would not supply anything other than that specified on website. I wish I had taken note of the reviwer and not bought the transformer in the first place. However upon receipt of the transformer from Light Up UK Ltd I found that transformer supplied had cable tails and not an integral terminal block as expected. I contacted Light Up UK Ltd and informed them that the transformer supplied had cable tails and not an integral terminal block as expected; they informed me that the manufacturer of the transformer has ceased to make the model with the integral terminal block. This I later found out that this was not true after I contacted the manufacturer Leyton Lighting.I told Light Up UK Ltd that the goods they were selling were not as described and too correct the website according.Light Up UK said they would look into it, but would supply me with a separate terminal block. The TB received was absolutely useless as it was a TB for an overhead ceiling light with a spring clip to hold bulb in place
