Flimsy and no starter
It doesnt come with a starter. And had it said more clearly some hazmat excuse why non returnable i would have not bought or risked it. So flimsy. Barely stays up under weight of any pot. God forbid u move it. I guess i lost $40 lesson learned. But will be my last fire Maple product even though i have 2 diff sets already.

Hornet 2 Leaks Gas
I was really excited about this Firemaple Hornet 2 stove. I have a BRS 3000 and I had heard that FireMaple was the original maker of that model stove, and that they use higher quality material. The Hornet 2 was supposed to be the successor to the FireMaple 300T.I bought it several months ago, so it's out of the return window, but just recently got to take it out on a backpacking trip. I was disappointed to learn that the stove sprays gas all over your hand each time you screw it on or off. And not just a little squirt, it was a good dousing. I was concerned about using that hand to light it. I used the stove for dinner and breakfast, and both times it got me wet, putting it on and taking it off. There is an o-ring inside the threads, but it doesn't seal until after the gas starts flowing. The other thing that was annoying but not going to be a deal breaker is, it's really fiddly to get the arms out. The three arms are attached to this ring that you have to slide up the body, then twist it all to lock it in. The ring doesn't slide up very well. It kind of catches on itself, and then the twist move is awkward. It took me a couple minutes to just figure it out. Once I knew the secret, it still took 20 seconds or so to set out.The last complaint I have, is not the stoves fault, but I was disappointed that it is considerably larger than the BRS3000/FM300T. I'd say all folded up, it is nearly twice as long and twice as wide. It's also an ounce or so heavier. The stove does have a nice fire bloom, and was effective at boiling my water quickly. But between the leaking, the fiddliness, the extra size, and the additional cost of this model, I wish I had just stuck with the model I know and gotten the cheaper 300T

Buyer beware, support arms unstable and this item is not returnable.
I really wanted to love this stove, it could have been a perfect ultralight set up, but the 3 arms that support your pot do not lock into place and wiggle excessively. Unfortunately this item is not returnable, and I'm not willing to burn myself with it while I'm out in the backcountry. For reference I have a FireMaple Star X2 and it works great, I have also used an MSR PocketRocket 2 without issue, this is not a me problem this is a design flaw.

Amazing little stovr
I put off buying this after reading the review saying it's fiddly and covers you with gas but wish I hadn't! There is a twist involved in folding it but it's fine once you've done it once, and the tap is half on to fold it so as long as you turn it to off before screwing it into the gas cannister (as you should with every mini stove) you're grand. There's been way less gas leaking out that with other stoves I've had. Have been brewing up and cooking all weekend in the hills with this, and it'll definitely be coming with me on many future adventures.
