DO NOT BUY THIS FOOD!Eriq was my grey-brown tabby who I trained from birth to speak, lay, sit, roll over, stay, and say human-sounding words. He was an amazing friend who lived through many harsh transitional years with me.In early 2007 I tried out a new type of cat food by Purina - Kit `N Kaboodle. Little did I know that one of the ingredients in Kit `N Kaboodle can lead to feline death. This food is loaded with preservatives which crystallize inside the intestinal tract of male cats and some female cats. Once those crystals reach the urethra, they clot and form a plug which can only be removed by expensive veterinary surgery. If left untreated, the cat will retain liquids and the urine will wash back into the kidneys and kill the cat in a matter of days.This is exactly what happened to Eriq. I did get him to the vet at the last minute and they saved him (at a cost of over $600.00)... However, with his new special diet, he was given at most six to nine more months to live. With love and lots of attention, Eriq grew strong again and lived another two years. However, in 2009 he succumbed to the kidney failure that was a slow, painful week-long struggle to keep him comfortable and feeling loved.He died in my arms and we had him cremated. His ashes rest in a container on my desk and I occasionally get to hold him again when the memories of all those years together resurface.

This is a great dry cat food that all 3 of my female cats love. The dry is left down for them to pick at during the day and I also put canned down for them in the morning and evening. Anyone that loves cats should know that male cats can't have just dry cat food (any kind) as it will cause blockage and possible kidney failure. Do your research, check with a vet before you purchase a pet so you always have the correct pet food for them.

I bought this because it was the only brand available at the Rite Aid down the street and I wasn't able to drive to a pet store due to snow. I knew it didn't have very good ingredients, but I figured it would be better for the cats to have SOMETHING to eat for a day until I was able to get something better. I was wrong.I have two young, healthy cats who have never had any digestive problems before. They have been eating HALO cat food for the past month and loving it. I put this food out in the morning, and later that night I found diarrhea all around the litter box and throughout the room. I could see pieces of the food that hadn't been digested, and besides that it was just orange goop.Stupidly, I had the litter box in my bedroom which is carpeted, so I spent the evening following the trail of diarrhea where the cats scooted their butts to clean themselves off, spraying and scrubbing to get the stains out. Needless to say, I have relocated the litter box to a bathroom, and this "food" is going straight to the garbage.
