Fantastic at stopping mosquito larvae in their tracks but expensive to use all the time
Before I reworked my pond this year, I was plagued by mosquitoes. These dunks work superbly at killing mosquito larvae, rather than the mosquitoes themselves. As such, it does take time to see any benefit from them. However, you do and I now use these sporadically to clear out any larvae I see in my run or pond and they work excellently. They are expensive to use continually in a pond, but once in a while they are good value for money.

unsure how much benefit they are
using them for fungus gnats with indoor plants. not cheap. have used for 2 or 3 months now. works better than hydrogen peroxide flushes it seems. bought these ring blocks as they seemed cheaper than bits. crushed, added to water for 1-3 days soak to water plants. I also mixed crushed granules into top layer of soil on all my plants. Flies lessened, though they're worst later in the year so I don't know for sure. Still caught a lot on sticky fly traps so it hasn't killed them all. I think these have had some effect, far fewer than last year. Though it seems not a complete pesticide effect at this stage. I still have half a pack left so it may kill them all off in future applications/ life cycles. For now I'm still using sticky fly traps and discarding a few plants or planting them outside to get rid of any heavily infected soil.

How to Get Rid of Fungus Gnats in House Plants (read below)
Had a fungus gnat infestation in my house plants. Yes, this will work for fungus gnats and works perfectly for house plants. They’re pricey up front, but I guarantee will last you a while! I think these work much better than mosquito bits and last much longer. I’ve found with the bits that if they’re just left on the top soil, they can grow mould and look kind of nasty.A preventative measure I use to combat fungus gnats is to prepare a batch of water the night before you plan to water your plants. I break about 1/4 off of the dunk, break the piece I broke off into a couple of more smaller pieces, fill up a bucket of water, I would say around 5/6 litres, and pop them in and leave them overnight, maybe 12 hours. Then the next morning, water your plants with the solution you’ve prepared. I’ve had considerably less fungus gnats a week after I first watered with the dunks. I would say to do with every other time you water. Please note, this contains BTI (perfectly safe for plants) which when added to soil, fungus gnat larvae will feed on it and die. It won’t kill adult fungus gnats, so it’s best to use the dunks to kill the larvae and use yellow sticky traps to catch the adults (they lay eggs in your moist soil). That way, you won’t have the larvae grow into adults, to lay more eggs, and the adult gnats won’t contribute to the problem.

Does exactly what it says. Nothing more.
Got rid all the mosquito larvae in my pond almost straight away. Pretty expensive too so I only used a bit. Seems it was enough.Only gripe is the price. Wasn't much cheaper on eBay either. My ponds only small so I only needed a tiny bit.3 stars, if the product was cheaper it would have got 5.

Works for house plant/fungus gnat problems!!! Soak dunks in water for a couple of days before use
I have had the worse case of fungus gnats ever - I'm talking both sides of sticky traps covered within hours bad. They were everywhere, they'd fly up my nose even!! I was literally using my hoover to get rid of them (I'd bang the pots to disturb them then suck them up. I'd even hoover the soil)Tried traps, drying out plants, neem drenches, hydrogen peroxide, scooping out top 2inches of soil and fully reporting- nothing worked. Some Plants were literally crawling with them meaning I had to just throw them away.i put a whole dunk in a old 5 litre water bottle and left it for about 3 days.I watered every one of my plants and also used more sticky traps. 2 weeks on no flies in sight.I will keep re filling the bottle until the dunk fully dissolves, meaning this product will last for ages.I have 29 plants in my front room which was the worst affected room, they are all gnat free for the first time in about 1.5 years. I will use this whenever I water, and am so happy I longer need to faff about with bottom watering!!Buy them!!Edit to add: have them in your water even when you’re not due to water. Once I’ve finished watering I refill the 5l bottle and leave it with 1 or 2 dunks (depending on how much had dissolved) in it until plants next need watering. This means mine are soaking for over a week at times. it may be worth checking to see whether longer than a overnight soak has any effect for you

Mostly Pro with only ONE Con
As a Texas homeowner with a backyard pond, I've struggled to control the mosquito problem on my property during the hot, humid summers. I was skeptical that anything could truly eliminate these relentless bloodsuckers, but Mosquito Dunks proved me wrong. I was amazed at how quickly Mosquito Dunks eliminated the mosquito larvae in my backyard pond. Within days, I noticed a huge reduction in the number of adult mosquitoes buzzing around. No more annoying bites while gardening or barbecuing! The dunks provide month-long mosquito control, so I only need to reapply occasionally. They don't harm my pond's ecosystem, so my fish and frogs are safe. And they cost a fraction of what I used to spend on citronella candles and bug zappers. Here is my list of pros and one con:Pros:- Extremely effective at killing mosquito larvae- Prevents new generations of mosquitoes from maturing- Long-lasting - one dunk treats pond for 30+ days- Safe for pets, plants, fish, and wildlife- Easy to use - just toss in water- Affordable and budget-friendlyCons:- Doesn't kill adult mosquitoes, only larvaeFor any homeowner battling a mosquito problem near standing water, I can't recommend Mosquito Dunks enough. It's a simple, safe, and effective solution. Just toss a dunk into your pond or fountain once a month and say goodbye to those bothersome bugs. I'm so glad I discovered this secret weapon - my family can finally enjoy mosquito-free time outdoors again! Hope this review helped!

Mosquito killer
We have a small water feature in our garden, so for the second year I am adding one of these periodically. They certainly do seem to keep the mosquito population under control. My only quibble would be the claim that one lasts for “30 days or more.” They absorb water and presently begin to break apart. Perhaps the active ingredient remains in the water even after that? Don’t really know, so once the dunk is entirely reduced to just floating debris, I scoop that out and add another. That means the six-piece card doesn’t equal a six-month supply. Possibly this is just my misunderstanding, however.
