It worked

Didn't have to Whack a Mole! It looks like we can take a vacation for a while from "Molestation".
Didn't have to Whack a Mole! After repeated applications using the soap mix (Dawn Dish Soap, Water and Castor Oil), so far so good...they have not filled back their holes. It looks like we can take a vacation for a while from the Molestation. We feel better using this method as opposed to traps or killer pellets (which did not work). We sprayed the "Nature's Mace" mixture (borders first and around mole activity) over the surface of lawn multiple times, then repeated over entire surface. Digging into mounds to uncover the tunnels, we left the hole open and then if not covered the next day, filled the tunnels as best as possible with "Nature's Mace" mixture. That has seemed to work so far!

No way, I said. Nothing cures a mole problem. Wait. WHAT??
FOR 18 years we have been battling moles in our rural steep hilly yard. Every small patch of level space and worse, the slopes, have been slowly decimated by *herds* of moles. Tried using soil pounders, lawn rollers, buzzers, spring traps, even "steamrolling" the patches with my truck [NOT easy]. ZIP. Back in a day. Someone I know mentioned Castor Oil, but had low confidence in their knowledge. So I "did my own research" [lol] and came across this product. On the gallon label as well as online, you will find the suggested ratios of Castor Oil, surfacant [dawn with a duck], and water. I invested in a high quality electric sprayer [Milwaukee] and gave it a try. I'm flabbergasted at the results. I want those 18 years of pounding back. Full disclaimer: this very effective method will require multiple applications as the not-dead moles will return if the concentration of Castor oil diminishes, maybe monthly, hopefully longer. I'm very O.K. with that. Between this Castor Oil for Moles, and my Vinegar concentrate weed killer, I am facing down two of my biggest yard maintenance tasks with 100 percent natural solutions, pardon the pun. HIGHLY Recommended. The gallon quantity says 20,000 square feet coverage. With my battle plans in place, I'll need another 4 gallons to to reach my goal. Oh boy.

Only time will tell if this works long-term
This product seems to have worked keeping moles at bay in the lawn. I started using it last fall on the lawn and where I sprayed the moles did not invade. The jury is out on voles, which are a worse pest than moles because they kill plants directly. "MoleMax" --granular form of castor beans you spread on the surface (or drop in their holes) and water it in --I've used for many years, spreading it in planting holes as well as on the surface-- but the voles seem to have developed a resistance to it this year. (Local gardening store owner says he has gotten more inquiries about how to deal with voles this year than ever before. A climate thing?) So I started using the Nature's MACE--also castor bean based-- for voles this week and am waiting to see how effective it is. Perhaps it penetrates the soil to the depth of the tunnels better. If it proves effective, my overall "3" rating could go up. I probably won't know for months however. The greatest drawback to this product is mixing it and spreading it by hand sprayer. Time-consuming to mix, and the solution before you add it to water is goopy and gets on your hands making it difficult to manipulate the sprayer or even turn a doorknob without repeatedly wiping your hands off.

Moles are not digging up the yard now
We have a very large yard, 3 acres. You can’t get rid of all the moles. However a particular area seemed to be very attractive to them, probably a couple thousand square feet, plus some other areas. Just too much area for the worms, gas sticks etc. I mixed according to directions, sprayed a couple gallons, several times, about a week apart, and now no new mole hills or trails. Obviously they are not gone, just driven away from the surface. We just use the half gallon jug of Costco dishwasher soap to mix in. Seems to work great! I suspect if you don’t keep up with the application the moles will eventually return. But at least it is not harsh chemicals or poison. Too bad, I had fun using the gas sticks.

Didn't work for us, unfortunately
Great idea, but it failed to work. We did this according to the instructions exactly. We applied it 3x in a small 1/2 circle, then a bigger 1/2 circle, and then even bigger one....and never saw any changes to the the number of new Vol holes daily in the yard. We have a very small back yard and were sure that this would solve our issue. Oh well. Trying the electronic repellents next (can't do the poisons, as we have a dog and don't want him catching eating/one!.

IT WORKS
I had approx 75 holes in my backyard everywhere last summer. I mixed this with dish detg, and put in each hole. I then covered each hole somewhat with surrounding dirt. The holes were not re-Opened and only say a few more new ones in the following weeks. After using on any new ones they were gone.It is an expensive product but worth it to me. would recommend and would buy again if needed.
