ZegooWool Newsboy Hat Beret Cap Ivy Hats for Women and Men
-**-
No Slouchin' on the Job!!!
Good price, but the "Newsboy's Cap" that you see here does not offer a beret that is large enough to sufficiently slide forward -- or to the side -- so as to partially cover the brim, which is the real "calling card" of this great cap that was worn by newspaper boys in the 1920's, 1930's and into the 1940's. With their eight-panelled hat that met at a button-top at the cap's crown and their chosen unique style of "slouching" of their berets -- be it pulled forward, so as to almost hide the hat's "beak," or "slitched" -- yes, "slitched" -- toward the side, these newspaper boys portrayed "attitude," whether jocular or cocky, throughout the streets of the "Big Apple." Each thoroughfare vibrated with throngs of determined people. Businessmen dressed in grey, or navy-blue suits, heads warmed by felt, fedora hats, cursed at the face-slapping wind while elbowing their way to their 8:00 a.m. meetings. Women in red lipstick, wrapped in warm dresses, muffs, coats and hats, all scurryed to their patiently waiting typewriters, their lips cracked, cheeks now Washington apples and noses turning blue in the biting chill, as they negotiated their way through the charcoal-colored snow. And, above the overture of yellow cabs always impatiently honking, all would hear the cracking voices of the young newspaper boys yelling, "Read all about it! Churchill rallies England's courage as he openly defies German blitzkrieg!"; and hastening, but startled, passersby with mittened hands, quicky exhanged coin for newspaper, even while the newspaper boys' cries never ceased. "Get your paper! Read all about it!"The manufacturers of this cap know nothing of this compelling piece of history and have, therefore, deprived themselves of offering a singular opportunity to America's modern men and women of expressing their own bit of "attitude" while wearing an authentic and timeless, "Newspaper Boy's Cap." This is one time when "Slouching on the Job" proves priceless, but unfortunately, not with this particular version. Look for the real thing! Best to all! --Vibby --

Beautiful, quality cap at a killer price
I got this for history bounding and was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it is. The price can't be beat. The fabric is lovely. I washed it in a delicates bag on cold delicate to remove the new smell, and hang dried it, which freshened it up without affecting its shape.I'm really pleased with the hat and ordered a second one in a different color.

Super cute hat!
I got this hat for my daughter for Easter! She has gotten into steampunk! Accidentally ordered two and my other daughter wants the other. It’s super cute and can’t wait for Easter to see her expression when she opens it

More for women
Overall, the hat is really cute and looks just like the picture. I'd say it is more for women, than men though. I initially bought it for my boyfriend then realized it doesn't look like a men's hat as much as it does a women's. Still cute and reasonably priced.

Small for my huge man noggin, but customizable to fit
Decent quality. Small for my huge man noggin, but nothing a little customization (e.g. cutting away the elastic) couldn't fix.

Too small
Should have bought 2 sizes bigger. Gave it to my 12 yr old.

Terrific little hat - used for a children's musical and was the perfect prop! Well made however and in winter will keep nice and warm should we chose to wear it.
