Panasonic KX-HN6030 Monitoring Kit
Although this advises that it is a Pet Monitoring kit, once you remove the card sleeve the main box just advises that it is a home monitoring kit and so I assume the pet slant has been added to demonstrate the many uses that the monitoring kit can be used for and the actual name for the kit is Panasonic KX-HN6030 Monitoring Kit.The kit comes with 5 items; the main hub, window/door sensor, SD Card, Indoor Camera and a Smart Plug.As this appears to be another version of Panasonic's new smart home kits then it should be compatible with the 'human' kits available such as the Starter Kit which we have however my Husband has been struggling to get the two to work together and he thinks it is because we are having a few issues with our home internet at the moment and so I shall update this review accordingly when he gets them all working together. We already have a main house alarm which is very annoying and loud but despite this if an alarm is going off many neighbours and not just in my road tend to ignore them presuming they are a faulty alarm. I have actually been home when our alarm has randomly triggered and wouldn't shut off for ages and not one neighbour popped their head out to see if the house was being burgled and not one police car turned up. Since our neighbour was burgled a couple of years ago my husband loves anything that will alert him to someone being in our home when they shouldn't and although this is marketed as a pet monitoring alarm this kit will do just that and obviously we can have a peek as to what our cats are doing while we are at work which generally involves them being lazy and sleeping! The camera has an okay quality picture but it is nowhere as good as the picture quality from our other cameras we have at home and so this is a little bit of a disappointment and the reason I have deducted a star from my marking. All in all this is a good starter kit and relatively easy to set up. I will come back to this review in the next month once my Husband manages to get it to link with our other smart home kit so that I can confirm further on them working together.

A pet monitoring system – really ?!
Panasonic have teamed up with Petplan insurance to brand this very basic smart home starter kit as some kind of pet monitoring kit. Yes, you can see your pet on the camera but you can on any home camera system. The only difference I can see with this smart home system is you get a PetPlan insurance voucher with 4 weeks free insurance if you take out one of their plans.Ok, for the review - This is a basic starter kit at best. You get the Panasonic hub which to be fair is very good and signal is impressive. You get a smart plug that has a temperature sensor and can be configured via the app to turn things on or off at certain room temperatures. The example they give is a cooling fan.You get one door or window sensor, which alerts you if the door or window gets opened. You get a very average wireless camera that detects motion, sound, and temperature. Interestingly this is marketed on another site as a good baby monitor. The image is only 0.3 megapixel with a maximum frame rate of 6 frames per second. So picture quality is grainy especially at night. The 4gb memory card will give you up to 30hrs recording and its set to overwrite itself. If you buy a 32gb microSD card separately this will record up to 240hrs.Set up is very with one-push pairing. Simply press the button on the hub and press the button on the device you are pairing. You’ll hear a beep and your all set up.The kit is both iOS & Android compatible and the App you need to download is called Access Tester. It’s a green icon with a white house icon that has a tick in it.A bonus with the system is here are no monthly subscription fees unlike many other smart home cameras. It’s a good smart home starter kit but I would have expected a much better quality camera from Panasonic.

Functional basic home security device
This was one of those things I never thought i needed.. til I got one. First thing's first, the pet angle on this really is redundant... this is a security device first and foremost. in fact, when i used the ability to 'talk to my pet' through the speaker on the webcam, my poor cat looked positively freaked out as to where this disembodied voice was coming from.So what do you get - the router itself, which links in to your wifi, a webcam, which can see what is going on in your house, a smart plug which you can switch on and off remotely through the app, and a proximity switch which lets you know when your door or window is opened, depending where you put it.I haven't used the proximity switch yet.. not decided where best to put it. However the plug and the camera both work well, and can be accessed through the app you load on your phone. This means through your app you can check in any time to see what is going on in the house, what temperature it is, and even at night - it has infrared. You can hear (there is a delay of a few seconds) and as mentioned you can also talk through the webcam. Unfortunately the talking is one way - you can either talk, or listen, not both at the same time..As others have mentioned, resolution is not great - but then i think it does what it needs to. What would be a great boon but undoubtedly make it more expensive, is if you could move the field of vision. On other hand, there is a range of accessories you can add to the router, so if you wish, you can have several doors monitored with switches, smart plugs in several rooms, etc.. and all easy to use from the phone.I liked it - not a flawless product, but i set it up easily enough and it does what it was supposed to. I may well add some additional items to it.
