Sees all when driving.
This mirror and dash cam together is really cool.It does not replace the review mirror but could. Totally. This has a built in dash cam that I don't have to put on the windshield because it is within the review mirror. Not only does it have a front there is a rear cam if I wanted. It sees all and tells all. I once caught a train blowing right through a red light without calling it. I pulled the file from the sd card and. Wait. What? It won't play on my pc. And is even still a mp4. Bummer. This is a big draw back now since the files can run by them.Another thing is night mode. Is not all that great because I need light next to me to seeWires are easy to hide. Straps to hold the mirror onto the mirror the back up cam it's long enough to reach the back of the car if needed.I'm sure u can find something later.Ok gott go.

Cannot mount in my car
I picked this style specifically because I thought it might actually fit in my car. My car has a rather large and thick rear view mirror, and it has a multitude of sensors behind it, in a large housing. I drive a Mercedes Benz CLS550, for those wondering. For that reason, the normal camera on the back, mirror mounted style would not work for my car. This has a slide out camera, for cars which larger than average mirrors. I was hoping that it would work.It did not. When mounted, or I should say, attempting to mount, the design on the back of the camera makes it not sit flush with the mirror. With the camera slider fully extended, I still needed to off-set the whole unit a bit to the driver side (left hand drive model in the US). With it oddly mounted, the unit is a bit wobbly and the camera is still brushing on the side of the mirror. Now because of the size of the mirror and the lens sticking out, I would be unable to use my sun shade. It would either be put down completely, or up and not being used.I still checked the video quality and it wasn’t bad. Not the best, but for the price point, cannot complain too much.

Upgrade your older model car!
Awesome, overall!! Very good pictures and video, and fairly easy to install (if you have any car technical ability). (***REVIEW UPDATED ***)Rear view: It defaults to "camera virtual rear view mirror" mode, but press the button on the center of the bottom, and it becomes a somewhat dark mirror. Camera mode does an excellent job of covering blind spots on both sides of the car, but you have to get used to focusing your eyes ON the display, instead of looking in the distance THROUGH the mirror. Also, judging distance behind you (in 'forward mode' - more on this below) is difficult in video mode. I tow a trailer now and then, and being able to see it will be wonderful.Forward camera: Excellent images and video, but setup step 1 is to adjust the display as a passive mirror looking backwards, THEN adjust the forward camera view afterwards (hint: stroke the display to the right to show different camera views - Rear, Split front & rear, and Front).Setup: Attach the display over your mirror (the front camera slides left as needed) with the rubber straps. Tilt the whole works as far down as you can to attach cables & insert a micro SD card (not provided). For my 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee it was easy to tuck the cables up and under the edges of the roof & trim, routed down to under the dash on the driver's side for power, and video for rear view down to the floor and along the inner door trim - to the back gate. Then adjust the display-off reflection like you would a standard mirror. (See first photo of the reflection)The reverse view cable is just long enough to be routed up to the hinge point of my back gate, and then into the ideal spot just above the backup light. I temporarily placed it in the center of the back bumper for the initial review. (****UPDATE*** since then, I mounted it above my high center brake light. Works well there)The camera shows a backup zone grid and a magnified view when it senses the backup light is on. To sense this, a wire needs to tie to one of the backup lights. This is probably the most challenging bit, but worth doing. I removed my right rear tail light assembly and spliced a wire (NOTE: MORE wire than they provided was needed) to the reverse lamp hot side. NOTE: I notice that it is a bit touchy, bouncing between normal rear view and backup grid mode - I may try adding a capacitor to see if it helps, because I'm a tech dude... Seems like hitting the brakes causes it to switch & bounce. (***UPDATE*** The added capacitor - a 40V 1300uF dielectric from the red wire backup light detector to ground, worked - no more issues!!)The manual is decent if not exactly detailed. In photo #3 you will see "ABCDEF" - that's because I didn't enter my license plate for this review (I will later). The touch screen is excellent - tap to bring up a basic menu, or swipe RIGHT for video review, swipe LEFT to change camera views. I frankly have NOT tried the voice actuation, because that's not a feature I want active...I reviewed front and rear videos from daylight, and they are really good IMO. Getting the micro SD card in and out is a pain, because it is located on TOP of the display. Placing it on the bottom would have been a better design choice for usage. It keeps the photos and videos in nicely organized folders on the SD Card, which is great. Set the time & date to get accurate records of when a video or photo was taken. For the price, this thing is awesome.

Couldn't get it installed
I ordered this in hopes of installing it into my older car. I was hesitant as I didn't know much about cars. Upon opening and reading the directions, I was pleasantly surprised with how easy it sounded to install. First problem was that I didn't have a mini SD card. Next was realizing that the wires would be hard to handle/hide/safely position (the ones hanging from the new mirror). Next was the fact that I had no idea how to get the camera from the inside of the car onto the bumper. I understand there are access points, but I didn't know where they are. In no time flat I was overwhelmed and disappointed, but not at all interested in trying to continue installing. I see other reviews rated it favorably and I possibly would have too, had I been able to install it. I have no experience with this type of thing, but it was suggested that expertise was not required. It does state in the manual that professional installation is strongly suggested- I think I will follow that advice and see if I can get it professionally installed. I will update my review when that happens.
