I bought this for sentimental reasons, as a reminder of my Mum that I lost recently. It is just lovely.It is a thick piece of pottery, perhaps half an inch thick, and therefore has a sturdiness to it I didn't expect. It comes with a little string for hanging up. The string is quite stiff, and easily takes the weight of the plaque. I don't have mine hanging up, I have it propped up on my computer stand at work - I had to stick it with a little bit of blutak to steady it, as I didn't want it to fall over and crack.The surface is glossy glazed, and isn't completely smooth, it has an undulating, rippled surface that gives it a nice handmade feel. The actual writing is imprinted, not just painted on, so wouldn't rub off or anything if you are giving it a clean.I love it - for many reasons - but it's a lovely quality decorative item which I would highly recommend.
