Yes it is. I've been out in it in the pouring rain and stayed warm and dry.

Q: Can you remove the fur collar as well as the trim on the hood

No the fur collar can't be removed but the trim on the hood can... Its a fabulous coat.. Its very cosy and warm in cold weather

This is a lovely warm and cosy coat and keeps a cold wind and snow or rain off the face with the hood up

Q: Is this really waterproof in a heavy downpour?

I'm not quite sure as I've not worn it yet in a heavy downpour
