Hoping for better
I bought the Autoglym wheel silver because it had pretty good customer reviews. I spent a fair fair bit of time preparing my alloys and used the excellent Autotek etch primer in advance of the finish coat. The primer was superb and the wheels looked great. As instructed, I left the primer for a full 24 hours before using the Autoglym. From the word go it was obvious that the aerosol can itself was inferior to the Autotek can. The spray appeared "weak" and when about halfway through the can it was as if there was insufficient propellant to deliver the paint properly as the paint was spitting and splattering and the spray was weaker still. I thought I had a dodgy can and used the remaining content to paint the inside of the next wheel. I started another can and was really miffed that it was exactly the same. The end result is that I have two repainted wheels that look okay on the outside faces but the sides of the spokes look as if they are rough powder coated. The can and nozzle configuration just doesn't suit alloys that are anything other than simple in design. I've got to do the other two wheels as there is a difference in colour and finish but I know I will be repainting them again next spring / summer. I wish I had bought the Autotek wheel silver as I'm sure it would have delivered better results. If the Autoglym came in a better can with professional nozzle rather than the cheapo can it comes in I might have been happier with the end result as I'm sure the paint itself is okay.

Revive your old wheels...
Alloy wheels on an old car can let the appearance down badly , as they get scuffed and marked over the years. We have five cars with an average age of 21 years, so I'm regularly refinishing wheels to keep them looking smart. I bought this AutoGlym branded paint as I've been an AutoGlym fan for 25 years, and thought it was worth a try: I wasn't disappointed. The paint is priced much the same as other seemingly similar products, but is superior in two ways. Firstly, it seems to have a lower solvent content (i.e. higher solids content) so you can achieve a higher film thickness before things start to sag or run. The second real benefit is the finish itself: spraying 'wet-on-wet' gives a smooth, pleasant gloss, and the paint seems to have a higher metallic content too, giving the wheels a real lustre. One tin comfortably refinished two wheels on my old Alfa Romeo. These are 32-spoke alloys, and are about the most intricate wheels you can get - so with simpler (e.g. 'starfish') alloys, you might just get all four out of one can. If you're willing to prepare your wheels carefully and are handy with a spray can, then I'd recommended this highly.

Did the job
I had my alloy wheels fully refurbished before handing my lease car back. I bought some used tyres as they had to be a premium brand and matching on all 4 wheels. Unfortunately I made a rookie mistake of assuming the guy would have to take the tyres off when he did my wheels and he could put the new ones on. He didnt'!When I took it to a garage to have the tyres fitted, one of the alloys scuffed and the paint peeled off a bit as it hadn't fully set. I had the prospect of having to pay to have the wheel fully done again or trying to touch it up myself. I risked it and bought this!I sprayed some into a pot and used a little brush to touch it in.Its resulted in a perfect finish and the inspector didn't say anything when they came to look the car over!I am going to use the remaining spray on my wife's alloys as a full refurbish so will update the review when Ive done this.

Decent colour match.
I have used this paint to touch up wheels on my wife's 2007 X3 and also on a family members 2013 Fiesta. It was a decent if not perfect match. The wheels on the Ford were a brighter and more sparkly finish which matched better. All I did was spray the paint in to the lid and then use a fine art brush to touch in the scuffs on the edge of the wheel.I can't comment on how well the paint sprays out of the can.

Awful colour match. I mean awful.
I bought this for obvious reasons. The color is absolutely awful. I have never seen a standard alloy on the market that has rolled off the production line in this colour.I drive a ford modeo with nice big alloys which are a lovely standard metallic silver colour. Just like my VW, Audi, BMW, other Ford's, Mazda, and Peugeot that I've owned in the past. I've owned one or more of these cars in my life and all with standard alloys.None of them were this colour.I'm positive most people would agree. The colour is a metallic silver but it's closer to a grey silver. I Wouldn't have minded if it was barely noticeable but I would say it's about 5 shades different.I was a printer for 10 years so I have a decent eye for colour. Now I have to do the whole thing again. Yay.Not happy as its from what is considered as a great quality branded car product.I used hycote before on a Mazda wheel and it turned out great. Why did I change? Because it was 50 ml bigger. What a d***.8

New Wheels....
Did what I wanted it to do....look it's not a great effort .... my car is a Vauxhall Vectra estate and I've had it 2 years so not cherished or anything but I do keep it clean. Had a few rust spots and previous coverage bubbling up...basically I just wanted to hide it. It did the job and I even sprayed the Vauxhall logos 😂. So that when you look at the car over all the bad bits on the wheels don't stand out. MAKE SURE YOU SHAKE THE CAN FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES.... It goes on light then oxidizes dark but after a few hours its exactly the same colour as the original wheels. Now if you're really into spraying and took your wheels off or had a garage you could make a fantastic job of the whole wheels rather than patching in on a drive in a tornado!
